Okay, next question: what about still taking down Ancalagon when we piss off Morgoth by slaughtering his Balrogs? I mean, he is the largest and most powerful mortal dragon I know of (meaning excluding dragon gods like Bahamut or Akatosh). He'd be a great end-boss for Middle Earth.

Also, with the absence of the Crucible in the rest of the Multiverse, we will be implementing an idea Grand suggested a while back: world totems. These are objects of great significance to a world that house the essence of that world. These are sufficiently powerful that they can grant us new abilities in much the same way a crucible piece would. Examples would be a Silmaril for Middle Earth's First Age, the Triforce for Zelda, or some form of Chozo artifact for Metroid.
