TURNED: August, 1350 – was 24 years old at the time. BIO: Alistair's memories of his human past are disjointed at best. Others would call them “barely there”. They're like that by choice. If, by any chance, he begins to cheerily recite tales of his mortal life as a swordsman, or a soldier, or a nobleman, or a merchant, they are the most obvious of lies. What he does remember is that he was born in a medium-sized port town on the coast of Scotland, raised by up to fifteen mothers – only one of them biological – and he was dirt-poor. Naturally, his Mother was a prostitute, and he a bastard. Never destined for an education, never destined for greatness, never destined to be anything but just another street-rat. He was raised communally, mostly because his Mother was very poorly with a cocktail of disease and poverty when she had him. Nevertheless, she continued working in the brothel so that he didn't have to, at least until Alistair was independent enough to find work and shelter of his own. Alistair was ten years old when she died. Without a father, or any real guiding figure in his life, he resorted to theft and looting to survive with a band of misfits, most of whom at least had a home to return to at the end of the day, unlike him. When the Black Death rolled around, arriving in the town via ships and trade routes, the whole area was ravaged. The poorest fell first. Alistair was twenty when he was struck down by the virulent bubonic plague, though he lasted longer than most with a natural resistance to illness. Just before his inevitable death, he was inexplicably turned by his sire. The vampire was the acting chieftain of the original Clan Blackmoore, a group that sought to restore a barbaric way of life in the country. His duty as a young fledgeling was to combat enemy vampires on the moors when there was no blood around to drink and no shelter from sunlight. As the youngest in his group, he was either thrown diseased humans to drain dry or an enemy vampire. His early days of vampirism were marked by unquenchable thirst and unadulterated madness... but they served him well, allowing him a much higher tolerance for the blood of his own kind than many others would even dream of. Vampires changed during the Scottish territory wars grew into hardier stuff than most – those that survived to Alistair's age, at least. While starving in the moors, the leadership stubbornly refused to let anyone flee for their lives. Alistair had just enough charisma and relation to the by-then deceased chieftain to attract a small following. These vampires he led to safety, fighting through his own brothers and sisters alike. Since then, he has had a distaste for war as a whole; however, that doesn't mean he isn't good at it. From the late 1600s to the 1730s, Alistair spent his time travelling the world in something of a 'mid-life crisis', leaving his country in what he considered to be the capable hands of his Council in order to seek out talented and interesting folk to claim under his family name. When in the Carribbean, he found and turned Maria - mostly for her unique toughness for a women of the era - who is one of his most trusted companions, despite not being on the Council herself. His exploration of the world was cut short by the tumultuous political climate in his home country around 1730 and he was forced to return. He acquired a reputation as “the smiling tyrant” at the end of the Jacobite rebellions during which other vampires attempted to stage a coup to overthrow him. He and his faithful relentlessly weeded out the upstarts to execute them publicly along with their families and anyone associated with them. On the verge of being found out by vampire-hunters in the 1800s, he and those closest to him moved to New York City as it would be easier to blend in while drinking human blood there – after he eradicated his enemies in Scotland, of course. It wouldn't be good to be seen as "fleeing". TL;DR: died of the Black Death, fought in territory wars and then took control over Clan Blackmoore before moving to New York in the 1800s. PERSONALITY: Alistair is leadership material. Charismatic, humorous and ever-friendly, Alistair has ruled for so long by being nice to those he likes – those that follow the rules – and ruthlessly shutting down those he does not. He does have a tendency to be a little melodramatic but in general that's all a part of his extrovert persona. Nobody likes a stick in the mud, after all. Having lived for centuries now, he likes life to be spontaneous and utterly hates boredom and boring people. Alistair is honestly a reluctant family head. He just doesn't trust anyone else to keep their cool and spark a war when faced with even the minor conflicts he deals with on a day-to-day basis. He places a great emphasis on fairness and would never kill without what he perceives as just cause (though that can include drinking from humans – his morals are a little flexible). Despite being somewhat unselfish and generous when it comes to giving out wealth and kindness to others, he does hoard the pretty, expensive things in life, perhaps due to never having had them as a younger man. Not just material goods but people too, attractive in looks or personality. He's an eccentric, that's for sure. FAMILY: The Head of Clan Blackmoore

Freely allows drinking from humans in the city; however, explicitly forbids leaving them or any witnesses alive afterwards.
Within the clan, drinking from animal blood or frozen blood is frowned upon as it is seen as weak – only the most traditional vampires survive in Clan Blackmoore.
A newly turned vampire or one intending to be turned by a family member must be brought before the Council of Clan Blackmoore to be judged.
Overall, Blackmoore vampires place a high emphasis on survival. They are known for their uncompromising methods of dealing with troublesome, non-transient rogues: join Clan Blackmoore or die.
POWER: Control Over Disease – If he concentrates, Alistair can give humans and even vampires the sensation of feeling violently ill with close proximity to them. That includes nausea, dizziness, headaches and more. One minor ability that this also appears to grant him is a extremely high (near-immunity) to the side effects of vampire blood, regardless of age. SIDE:

Humans – Against, mildly. Sees vampire-kind as an advanced form of them. Humans are not worth his time.
The Kingston Family – Against, if only because of clashing morality. Thinks Mira is cute, if young.
Rogues – Against. Thinks them a danger to his own family and as vampire-kind as a whole.
Werewolves – No opinion.
WEAPON: Fights with a thin, exquisitely-crafted long sword as he believes it easier than ranged weapons to take out a vampire. Makes it much easier for him to behead a vampire, thus killing them. Rarely carries his handgun, except in rare cases. OTHER:

A free spirit, amused by and often in support of human activism and protests. Donates extensively to charity schemes seeking to prevent human trafficking and prostitution.
Occasionally (every few decades) attends university as either a student or a lecturer for one of three subjects: History, Gaelic, or Theatre Studies. He might be a savage, but at least he's an educated savage.
Was a key player in the Jacobite Rebellions and took part in both World Wars for a change of pace, though in the latter he was dealing with a hostile vampire presence in Europe making waves under the cover of human politics.
