The balance of power. As Captain of the Guard I get more power as defence becomes more crucial, however you can easily usurp it by having food. Day master's power becomes less though, because who wants money when it can't buy you food?

As Captain of the Guard I can buy favours off of the Cultivator Liason by protecting food. Same for mages
