Even as he was being born, his parents had been aware of the repercussions of his mixed heritage in society, but had seen it fit to not take him back to his mother's homeland for the simple reason that they wanted him to have a better education than what he would get in the then not as advanced British Raj. As he grew, the repercussions that his parents had foreseen obviously did come about, as he was treated rather poorly, and did not have too many friends, since hardly anyone was willing to associate themselves with a half breed. The only thing that kept him company through out his school days was the pride that his father attempted to instill in him in Great Britain, hoping to lessen the effects of his treatment on his psych and attitude towards the country's institutions. "Only you, and you only, can change this great country's view for the better once more." were the words his father told him, and he took these to heart. He fought his way through school, and through sheer belief in himself did he manage to shrug off the insults of his peers to graduate school with full honors. With his schooling complete, he was still unsure as to what he wanted to do, except that he wanted to make a change, and do something for the Queen, to show that he and the other Anglo-Indians were also worth something to the Empire. This was just in time for the Korean War to start, and for him to become conscripted into the Army to be sent to fight. After his first year of training and service, he had realized that the Army was one of the best ways of proving himself and his kin, which provoked him to continue to stay in service, and rise up the ranks.
