Nox feri was believed to have been a planet capable of supporting life at one point during its development; massive basins and canyons carved into the dark sands grant hints of ancient oceans now since evaporated into nothingness. Rising fumes of sulfur and Perpetual thunderstorms blotch the skies out, rending what very little light that can touch the barren wasteland. With these deadly elements in mind, it’s a wonder how Nox feri became so desolate and barren. Perhaps the radiation and vigorous stellar activity from the two suns was to blame for the monstrous gales that forever plague the planet. Maybe a prehistoric asteroid collided into Nox feri, releasing acidic gases from within the planet’s crust, poisoning the atmosphere beyond repair. Or it could be the presence of a Celestial facility, responsible for Nox feri’s terrible climate state; a strange sighting confirmed by a scout probe that has lead Vannu Bisara here to this unforgiving rock. Widely known for his scientific prowess in seemingly any field his curiosity may lead him to, Vannu has had many titles, ranging from professor to xenologist. Even for a short time, Vannu was also considered a Vice Commander for the Galactic Coalition. Though his long lifespan now dwindles, his mark on the galactic community may never fade away; a remarkable accomplishment for a member of a species whose existence is only brief. Vannu, like many of his kind, was optimistic and even confident that this incredible find would yield untold discoveries and new perspectives on a mysterious species said to have ruled the entire galaxy and potentially beyond. But the Vexi scholar had to admit that the conditions of Nox feri was going to prove challenging; the constant winds of a nearby storm persisted in safeguarding the ruins with black dust if it was its own by right. Luckily, the excavation crews had since isolated the entry to the facility from the typhoon, simplifying its access for the time being. For weeks, Vannu and his excavation teams had pushed deeper into the ancient ruins, drilling out the both natural and artificial debris long since collected from years of neglect. Despite being without any personnel to care for the Celestial structure, energy still coursed through the facility, powering its most basic mechanisms that unconditionally opened and responded to its new hosts. As to the storms of Nox feri, Vannu later confirmed that the Celestial structure was in fact responsible for causing and actually maintaining these planetary anomalies when probing the core of the ruins. But with one question answered, several others came into being; why did the Celestials construct this facility? For what purpose does destroying the planet justify? What was this place hiding? After descending deeper into the ruins and going against the concerns of some of the excavation personnel, Vannu Bisara was about to find out. Before he and his team stood a mighty gate engraved with that of the Celestial lore and architecture. On board torches from Vannu’s survival suit lit up the colossal structure, holographically highlighting the gate’s interface. With contained glee, Vannu drove his claws through each holo-node, orchestrating the desired countersigns into the gate mechanisms. Responding to the commands, the structure slowly dematerialized through several pocket dimension implosions; Vannu couldn’t help but grin when faced with this glittering sight leaving the team mesmerized. But what became visible on the other side quickly relinquished any positive marvel and awe and then slowly replacing the mood with fear and superstition. When the gate disappeared, the group found themselves looking at pedestal surrounded by only black. The only light source was that of a small object, actively mutating its shape while radiating a deep red glow at the pedestal’s apex. The air was soon filled with inaudible voices, whispering into the ears of everyone in the room. As to be expected, Vannu approached the crimson lighted substance with but with guided intrigue, despite the protests of his fellow teammates. As he drew closer to the light, the darker his surroundings had become and the voices whispered louder over this colleges cries to the point where they had simply vanished from existence. Temptation suddenly evaporated as Vannu quickly realized where he was as his eyes looked down upon the red mass. He turned around but saw nothing but darkness. Concerned, Vannu attempted to turn back but the combined light and the cryptic whispers intensified drawing Vannu’s attention once more in fear for his wellbeing. In an instant, his body was then lifted into the air, sparks violent energy shot forth from the blood red mass, seemingly passing though the protective fields of Vannu’s suit and connecting with his eyes. Images flashed into the Vexi’s mind uncontrollably; scenes of violence rapidly shifted one after the other until everything turned black. Vannu eventually came to, waking to find several worried faces of his colleagues peering down at him. Questions of concern filled his audio lobes but the images he experienced still remained ever present in his mind, leaving him trembling. From the ever present whispers, a single word from nowhere then came into his consciousness as soon as he was able to make sense of them: Doombringer. “Oh dear.” muttered Vannu Bisara. “This is not good, not good at all.” - ------------------------------------------------- - Bathed in the light of nearby nebulae located in deep space between systems, Falymar Station remains suspended, anchored down to the gravitational waves by its local but distant star. Asteroids and debris swirl around the massive city built into the husk of a planetoid once host to now ceased mining operations. Now notable and widely recognized for trading and military warp traffic, starships consistently arrive and leave the station jumping in and out of slipspace. Because of recent events with the outer colonies going silent, Falymar Station how plays host as a springboard for the largest military operation ever seen since the Interstellar War. Asuka, Howling Sun, and Dev’rana; three Skirmish Carrier type warships rest within the massive shipyards connecting to the station city, assembling the personnel and equipment for the large-scale expedition, dubbed Operation Trident. Since the arrival of so many warships, the station understandably has gone silent within the past few weeks; shift businesses and pirates have distant themselves from the now heavily occupied region. Several thousand miles away, the surrounding space twists and contorts before a special seam is then ripped open. A lone vessel materializes from the womb like sphere of its warp bubble, jumping into reality out of slipspace with the light of the pink nebulae greeting its arrival. The cosmic glow illuminates the vessel’s hull, revealing an arrowhead-like form with the name Infamous Alto printed to its starboard and port sides. Inside the vessel, overhead lamps finally begin to burn white into the darkened hallway and corridors after such a long journey. Within the abdomen of the Infamous Alto, a room filled with mist and frosted cylinders, also begins to awaken. Residing in one of the cryo-tubes, a male human slumbers in cryosleep, unaware of the activity outside nor of the glowing holographic eye levitating alone above a holo projector. The iris of this glowing sphere began to rotate, switching directions as it went to work interfacing with the cryotube mechanics. The tube of which the human laid in lurched forward, internal lamps brightening his face and body as it activated. Shortly afterwards, the seal cracked open, vomiting cryogenic gases that kept the man in hibernation. A mechanical limb, built into the tube, stung him with a needle, injecting a stream of green fluid into his veins. Seconds later, he stirred, groaning before exiting the tube. "Welcome back Captain Rayland Sul’tari. It has been one month, seven days, four hours since departure from the Elgos System" said the floating eye. Rayland leaned out of the tube as he held his head, rubbing his over-moisturized eyes. "Current position?" he asked. "The Infamous Alto is currently entering the orbit of Falymar Station. We will be docking with the station in one hour." "Thanks Towan..." Rayland groaned before giving a deep yawn. However convenient cryolsleep was considered, the drawbacks of course were long lasting effects of drowsiness and sense of fatigued even the mixture or stimulants and adrenaline may only address for so long. "I'll be in my quarters dressing up now...Let’s get the rest of the crew up ready; it’s gonna be a very busy day." "Affirmative." Towan replied. (If your character is already a crew member, this is where they will start. Anyone not currently with the crew will start either on Falymar Station or somewhere else of their personal choosing.)
