@71342: While I'm really digging the backstory, appearance, and theme, Binders and other Magic Classes don't use weapons because the time it takes to study magic conflicts with having enough time to learn to use weapons as well. In addition, Flash Step seems more like a skill a Shade or Knight would use, rather than a Binder spell, and its MP cost is too low. The Level of the Skill x10 determines MP cost. I really, really like the feel of the character overall--ancient Shinto priests, Buddhist monks, and other kinds of shamanic magic meant to ward off spirits were exactly the inspiration for the Binder class. Here are some suggestions that I think would iron things out: You've already got the sword serving as kind of a "non weapon," in that he uses it as a magical ranged attack rather than fighting with swordplay. Rather than following his movements, what if the sword was a component of one of his seals or barriers? Maybe he holds out the sword in its sheath and recites the incantation, and it creates a barrier or produces some kind of magic effect? You could even incorporate it into "the sword doesn't see him as worthy to draw it" or something, preventing him from using it as a normal weapon, but the sealing power of the sword can be channeled through his spells? Or, for more offense, perhaps he casts a magical chain/rope/etc attached to the sword's hilt as a restraint on the enemy, and then sword is pulled out by the chain and hovers above that enemy. If they try to escape, it will cut into them. Binders are allowed to use their chains and barriers to physically crush/choke/etc enemies as their offensive measure, so this would incorporate well I think. You could also have him slam the sheathe down into the ground so that the sword stands there, and a magic seal spreads out around it that has some kind of effect, like preventing any evil creature from stepping into the area or something. At this point I would just be coming up with moves I think are cool off the top of my head and rambling, so I'll stop. But is any of this helpful?
