I had the mob's accuracy and speed (because it was charging on it's Initiative) compared against Ryouta's evasion and speed, which was a variation of only 5. BUT because Ryouta could not see where it was while it was charging, I added in 1.5x accuracy too as a suprise attack bonus! Ryouta also could not react to it. 

This resulted in the excess of 12.5 which means the attack could not miss and Ryouta took 15 damage - his 5 defense. 

Now Ryouta can act but he used Flash Step as a reaction so he can only cast/attack again next turn.
