Yeah, I could just programmatically create a new convo in the same step I create a new user.

I could use the [url=http://www.roleplayerguild.com/users/8231]Guild Mods[/url] account to be the sender of the PM. Staff could login to it periodically to see if any newcomers responded to that PM with questions or anything.
