In Wolfe's case, he bowed out from what I am understanding of what Sole is saying, others that haven't posted in an even larger window of time (Hero and doc are among these people) have characters that are still alive, but are essentially not contributing, so what do you do about them?
If you call a month or two 'periodic', then we're going to have to disagree. That death was not the result of a couple weeks absence, that was the result of two months inactivity and not a word of being busy from them. As Pierce made mention to me, ColorMeEvil is gone, and had not made plans to return to the plot. In fact from what I've read he just doesn't have any idea what he likes to do any more and has withdrawn, once again what Pierce mentioned above. ColorMeEvil was not stuck, he was not waiting on anyone, he has basically withdrawn without a word here but rather over Skype to Pierce at some point in the past, and would not accept his aid to get back into things. He is an NPC now, and I already got permission from the GM to eliminate inactive members of the cast who have zero interest in returning to the plot. Wolfe had respected Pierce enough to send a pm informing us of his approaching absence due to real life obligations, and so I have no qualms with Minoru being left to go on off-screen adventures in the desert sea and whatever worlds he ends up next. He made an effort to get into the plot, he made an effort to interact with other characters, and that is effort ColorMeEvil did not offer. His character had no established ties with anyone and so he was just a loose end I used to remind the viewers of a background party at play manipulating things as best they could. It would be no different if I had Pepper, Pierce's character, do it. She'd be dead either way. What I do with Doc is leave him be for the time being, as his character's death does not serve an immediate purpose. Furthermore, he gave us word he was having a rough patch in his life and posting would prove difficult, if not impossible. He gave us all warning, he respected us enough to do so, and so I see no real need to remove Tristan. Hero's character is in the same boat, her death serves nothing right now, but as I know Hero from another site her disappearances are often. Pierce and I knew this, we were not surprised by her absence. Coriander's character serves no purpose as it is and Kal quite clearly has no interest in returning to the roleplay, so at least with his death I might be able to set another plot-advancement up. All this in mind, I got permission from the one who directs this roleplay, and he had allowed it under the conditions I put forward. Should you still have a problem, take it up with him in PM's or over Skype, because I won't retcon the event unless he tells me to, and I seriously doubt someone gone for two months voluntarily has any interest in what happens in the story any longer. I clearly warned everyone in the last page, nearly two weeks ago, of my intentions to remove inactive characters and no one had said anything then. tl;dr - Take it up with Pierce, otherwise don't know what to tell you. His 'call' was allowing me to remove him via IC death.
