Yes, only up to one company though. Any chapter is fine. Custom chapters as well.

If we keep getting just 40K applicants we might just end up doing a 40K roleplay.

Hrm. I'll probably be creating a Turian. Or maybe a Krogan. Is the Mass Effect universe post-ME3? And which endings are we using?

Name: Vires Decius Race: Turian Position: Captain Appearance: 6'2, approx. 230 lbs, blue eyes. Vires has a long slash across his forehead, as well as numerous whip scares on his back. Vires' colony tattoo consists of white paint that looks like this. Allegiance: Turian Blackwatch (22nd Lightning Psychos) Abilities: None Bio: Vires was born on the planet Invictus, in the Caestus systems, located in the Minos Wasteland quadrant of the Milky Way galaxy. Vires father was a career military man, who, at Vires birth, was a high ranking general charged with the defense of the Minos Wasteland colonies, alongside a handful of admirals and generals. Because of his father's status, Vires was expected to grow up to be of equal importance. While most would consider it a daunting task to live in the shadow of a military giant, Vires took it upon himself to live up to those expectations. At a young age, Vires' mother, Taeya, enlisted the greatest personal teachers for Vires, to give him the best chance at success. The greatest scholars, mathematicians and historians worked with Vires all day, for seven days a (human) week, to give him the knowledge he would require to grow up and be somebody. As soon as he was physically able, Vires began training in the use of firearms with the local frontiersmen. When it was apparent that Vires had learned all he could from non-military firearms experts, General Decius had an ex-training sergeant hired and sent to his family on the Invictus colony. This man, Cassus, became Vires's inspiration. Cassus was able to bring Vires training regime to new heights, not only teaching him how to properly use firearms but also hand to hand martial arts, knife fighting, and the use of explosives. While most species would not allow such extremes to be taken when preparing a non-adult, the Turians couldn't care less: in fact, such devotion was expected. The children of greats were expected to be great as well. Vires, while excelling in his training, was considered a socially awkward introvert. He had very little informal contact with anyone outside of his family gene. This inadvertently led to Vires no longer relying on interaction with other sentient beings, a skill pivotal for the special operations soldier he was to become. The birthday Vires was old enough to enlist, his gift consisted of being transported to the recruitment office as soon as it opened. He signed up as a marine, and after a tear-less goodbye to his mother, was off to boot camp. For most Turians, boot camp is a grueling, torturous thing that most despise the moment they arrive. But not Turians like Vires. Turians who had lived their whole lives to prove that they were as good as their parents. Boot camp was just another chance to improve, nothing more. Vires met his lifelong friends at boot camp, in fact. The ten of them would become the original 22nd Lightning Psychos. At graduation, the temporary squads that had been established during training were given their official names and assigned to their posts. The 22nd found itself serving onboard a Turian cruiser on the edge of Terminus space, where they protected major trading posts and trade lanes from pirates. Vires saw considerable action during his four tours of duty aboard this cruiser, and this is where the majority of his squad's recommendations for Blackwatch status came from. The nail on the head, however, was when the cruiser crash landed on a planet in the Faryar system, located in the Hourglass Nebula. Most of the crew died on impact, including one member of the Lightning Psychos. While the Turians awaited rescue, the Lightning Psychos led the defense of the makeshift Turian camp, alongside one other surviving combat squad. Numerous attacks from a pirate base on a nearby moon failed to penetrate the defenses manned by the Psychos, and Vires himself claimed hundreds of kills during the months of near constant attacks. Vires later learned that the pirates were after the cruiser's secret cargo of experimental weapons of mass destruction. When the squad was rescued, only seven had survived. Those seven were bestowed the highest honors, and their squad was given the chance to train further and become a special operations Blackwatch squad. They accepted. For the past twelve years, Vires has served alongside the 22nd Lightning Psychos in the most dangerous missions Blackwatch has ever sent their teams on. Vires has watched countless men die, and only he and two other of the original Lightning Psychos remain. This has earned the three of them the nickname 'The Immortal Trio.' Some of the more religious members of the Lightning Psychos believe their unit's spirit has some special plan for the three warriors. In recent years, two years ago, percisely, Vires became the squad's leader. He leads them with the discipline and honor expected of a Turian; yet Vires is not satisfied. He will never be satisfied with being a mere soldier. Vires still dreams of becoming a general, much like his aging father. Gear: Firearms - Phaeston assault rifle; Krysae anti-material sniper rifle; M-6 Carnifex Hand Cannon Explosives - ML-77 Missile Launcher; Flashbangs; Inferno grenades; high explosive grenades; proximity mines Other - Makhaira knife; Omni-tool Armor - Light Crisis/Hazard Armor Mk X Vehicles - Turian Corvette 'Relentless' acts as Decius' Blackwarch squad's transport and combat vehicle. Small, maneuverable, capable of carrying a crew of ten.

Note: This is ceremonial dress
Aelric Tancred Colonel, 133rd Krieg Tank Regiment
Race: Human Position: Imperial Guard Officer Allegiance: 133rd Krieg Tank Regiment Abilities: In Death, Atonement: Aelric is from Krieg, and thusly shares this detached and grim outlook along with those who come from the scarred world. He has memorized the litanies about how there is nothing but shame in life even as a boy, repeated as they were ad nauseam during bayonet drill. Indeed, there is no boasting when it is said that Aelric is fearless, because it is a simple fact for most, if not all members of the Death Korps. Backbone of the Guard: Aelric's service has revolved around the Leman Russ and other armored vehicles, and his skills regarding them and the tactics suited for such vehicles are elite. From sponson gunner, to main gunner, to tank commander, to platoon commander, then company, battalion, and finally regiment commander, he is a very competent armored warfare tactician. As it was Done by the Ancients: Aelric attended war college after being recommended by Lord General Guiscard of the 4,229th Army for a higher command. Getting perfect marks in almost every test, he has seen through the limitations of words from the ancient tactics tomes written by the ancients, and his effective application of this knowledge on the battlefield is something to behold. Bio: "For the Emperor, we go ever onwards." Aelric was born amongst untold billions, yet he was one of the few who would become stars that decided the fate of many. Granted, his was a star that would not burn for long, but it was a star nonetheless. His story began on Krieg, born naturally to a mother and father who, by luck or by the Emperor's hand, were not drafted into the service, as the former was sub-administrator for one of the Vitae Womb facilities, and the latter was the foreman of a munitions factory. They raised him well - from a Kriegan's point of view. For when he cried as a baby, Aelric's mother would hold him close, and her words of comfort spoke of peace and atonement beyond Death's gate. And when the drillmaster punished him for misbehavior during afternoon bayonet drill, his father added a second beating when he came home. Aelric henceforth knew nothing but a future full of war, and the death it promised which would bring peace to his soul. So it was, that after reaching 18 years of age and the Kriegan Administratum deeming his destiny not in the arcane technomancy of the Vitae Womb plants or the intense labour of the munitions factories, that he was thrilled to be one of those who would form the 128th Krieg Tank Regiment. His friends and family congratulated and cheered him on as he went up the ramp and into the maw of the transport ship that would take him to the stars, that he could enter that promised world of strife and death, of blood and iron, as a sponson heavy bolter gunner for one of his regiment's venerable Leman Russes, one named Mericful Justice. Viscar, Yngriff, Gloria Secundus - three worlds, nine campaigns. On the first two, he fought the dreaded Orks, felling a great many of the xenos with his heavy bolter, most of his rounds striking true and killing in just one or two hits. Junior Lieutenant Hoffman, commander of his tank, praised him particularly for downing a squad of Tankbustas before they could accurately let loose their rockets, which would surely have brought much hurt had they struck. But there were times when disasters were well and truly out of Aelric's power to prevent, and he still remembers well how Sergeant Goldstein's voice screamed for an instant before falling deathly silent on the intercom from a penetrating hit to the side of the turret by a beamy deffgun. But he did not mourn for his comrade's violent passing. Rather, he welcomed it, and wished his soul well as Goldstein began his pilgrimage beyond death to the Emperor's Palace, where all those who fought and died for the God-Emperor would be welcomed with open arms and know peace. He received gunnery retraining for the standard Leman Russ battle cannon to replace Goldstein while his regiment was put in reserve to resupply, reorganize and reinforce after receiving horrible casualties during the failed push towards the Varangian Mountain Range, where heavy artillery and gargants temporarily halted the advance of the penitent. It was about two months into the Grand Campaign for Viscar, and Aelric kept this position as main gun operator beyond the massive plains of Viscar and the icy tundras of Yngriff. But it was on the Hive World of Gloria Secundus where he would first assume his own command. His regiment had been stationed there to discourage any uprising by Tau sympathizers, but they were met with a devastating stab in the back as the local PDF was part of the xenos conspiracy and fired upon their own comrades-in-arms. As it is written in the ancient texts, the armored nature of the 128th Tank Regiment predictably performed poorly in the brutal urban warfare of the Hives, as such was the domain of infantry. Losses were high as lascannons, missile launchers and railguns seemingly lurked behind every high window. When relief came and his regiment was once more put into reserve to reorganize and reinforce, Aelric found himself receiving a battlefield commission from Sergeant to Junior Lieutenant in order to replace Hoffman as tank commander for the Merciful Justice as Hoffman himself got a promotion that elevated him to platoon commander. The 128th, crippled to near-death early during the Grand Campaign for the planet, could fight only in the later stages of the conflict, during which Hoffman's platoon of four Leman Russes, of which the Merciful Justice was part of, proved itself able under new leadership, destroying many Tau battlesuits and local-pattern AFV's manned by the traitor PDF. Viscar, Yngriff and Gloria Secundus saw Aelric go from a lowly enlisted crewman to a respected tank commander and officer, but Tartar and Dymphna's Damnation would elevate his status further. Merciful Justice, by this point, had a prestigious kill tally sporting a quite a number and variety of foes: from Ork stompaz and dreads, Tau battlesuits and hover-tanks, to the crude self-propelled guns of the traitor Gloria Secundus PDF. However, its outward appearance was undecorated, and its crew, even veteran Aelric, wore the same uniforms as each other without any ornamentation. This is because of the Death Korps mentality of brutal humility, a philosophy of shame unique to Krieg and its people that dictates aggrandizement or praise of oneself as not only vain but a sin. In any case, the desert mining world of Tartar introduced to him new alien races to fight: the Eldar and the Necrons, from both of which he took lives (or unlives, for the latter's case). Elements from WAAAGH! Skullkrakka had landed on the world and intended to utilize the powerful mining engines of the Adeptus Mechanicus to further bolster their crude horde. Hoffman's platoon of the standard-pattern Leman Russes Holy Ghost, Merciful Justice, Xenos' Doom and Unbiased Judgment were first into the fray, felling scores of Orks every heartbeat with sponson-mounted heavy bolters and the deadly high-explosive ordnance delivered by their battle cannons. Indeed, the first thrusts against the Ork horde drew much blood, but the WAAAGH! began to hold as reinforcements arrived from their crude ships hurling roks onto the planet's surface, even during the naval battle that made spectacular lightshows that one night as blossoming explosions violated the sea of stars when ships tore each other into junk and debris. Thus, Tartar became a war of attrition, and for many weeks, Aelric followed Hoffman as the front line shifted ever so slightly with each passing hour and day. What broke this grinding stalemate was the emergence of the Necrons, who wreaked havoc on both sides. When a flash of green light killed Sergeant Tyran, the Merciful Justice's main gunner, Aelric personally had to descend from the cupola to man the battle cannon and personally destroy, ironically, the Necron Destroyer that had unleashed the blast. Indeed, the new foe had come with great furor, and Hoffman's platoon saw the loss of the Holy Ghost, whose crew went up in flames along with it. Making matters more complicated than what was tolerable were the equally sudden appearance of the Eldar of Craftworld Biel-tan. Though this race of witches and pirates focused primarily on the Necron threat, they were unrelenting in their attacks against the Imperial Guard. Hoffman's platoon, reduced to 75% of its main strength, lost a quarter more when a Falcon Grav Tank speared a brightlance through the promethium tanks of the Xenos' Doom. However, there was swift retribution as the Unbiased Judgment, Hoffman's tank, mirrored the Falcon and destroyed it with a lascannon beam guided by the hand of the Emperor. Hoffman's battered platoon was forced to retreat to battalion HQ when the planetary order to evacuate the planet forthwith was sounded. Inquisitorial agents working parallel to Astra Militarum forces whispered of a daemonic artifact of Tzeentchian origin sealed there on the planet during the Horus Heresy. Considering all at hand, Imperial High Command decided that backwater desert mining world was not worth the effort of prolonged total war, and that it would burn to deny the foes of the His Majesty's Imperium the chance to use its facilities against them. Therefore, Imperial ground forces ascended to the starships orbiting the planet; and at the same time, the Eldar withdrew, vanishing as quickly as they appeared. Ork hordes met the undead legions of the Necrons as they were vomited out forth from obsidian gates. Then the death warrant of Tartar was signed by the local Lord General and Inquisitor, and Aelric, nursing his bloodied, bandaged arm, watched from the energy-shielded hangar of an Imperial Cruiser as Tartar was torn apart by the mighty guns of the Imperial Navy. He had been fighting for twelve years now. Twelve bloody years of traveling to distant stars, stars he wasn't familiar to, and slaying the foes of the Emperor. He hadn't died yet, and he decided that it was because the God-Emperor, praise be His Name, had a plan for him. Thus it was with this unwavering fatalism that he entered the Grand Campaign for Dymphna's Damnation, already well underway before he had arrived, and making a fiery maelstrom of carnage of the Hateful Goliaths' Chapter Homeworld. The Space Marines native there were experiencing a schism: half of their chapter had fallen to Chaos, while the other half stayed loyal. A feudal world of forests and hills, it was quickly blackened when traitor Librarians opened up warp portals, using the souls of their captured loyalist battle-brothers as power sources for the ritual. Stepping out forth from the foul tears in reality were none other than the hatred World Bearers, lead by a Daemon Prince named Rabindranath. To say that it was awful is an understatement. How many men can say that they fought, slept, ate and lived on a world whose clouds were black as soot and rained blood, where the sky was a malevolent red and the enemy was seemingly inexhaustible? Three chapters of Adeptus Astartes devoted entire companies to the defense of Dymphna's Damnation, and dozens of Imperial Guard regiments dug in and held the line. Two orders militant of the Adepta Sororitas gave their aid, and there was a rare sight in that a cohort of Legio Cybernetica from a nearby forge world also made landfall on the planet. The Death Korps of Krieg proved itself admirably against the Chaos Space Marines as they either held resolutely or died standing honorably. The 128th found itself once again at death's door as it was withered hour by hour, day by day, by warp energies or conventional weapons from either cultist slave gangs or their traitor astartes masters. Hoffman met his end screaming praises to the Emperor as a bloodletter drove its daemonblade through the top of Unbiased Judgment's turret, cleaving apart his head, and it was only a heartbeat too late that one of Merciful Justice's sponson-mounted heavy bolters gored the daemon to banishment. To fill the void of command, Aelric was hastily promoted to First Lieutenant and made to replace Hoffman. He lead his new charges as ably as Hoffman did. Joining the Rhinos and Predators of the Star Giants and Vengeful Angels chapters of space marines, the 128th Tank, 555th, 452nd and 379th Siege Regiments of the Death Korps, along with the 6th Colombian Infantry and 78th Vanith Guard, began to lay siege on the desecrated Fortress-Monastery of the fallen Hateful Goliaths, who had been declared Excommunicate Traitoris and what few remained of its loyalists were eyed with suspicion by other Imperial forces. When a breach was opened, the Emperor's Angels of Death were the ones to fight with the most furor, and the ones to take the highest kill tallies. Within an hour of the opening of the breach, the Fortress-Monastery was secure. When the sanctioned psykers and librarians had finished the counter-spell to close the warp gates, the sky returned to its normal, bluish tinge, obscured somewhat by the lingering smog of battle. Before regiments had the chance to regroup and reoganize, Inquisitorial and Ecclesiarchal agents sifted through each man and woman to root out those whose souls had been corrupted. Many were summarily executed, and pyres lit up the darkness some nights, but thankfully, Aelric checked out as pure, although he was subject to a minor mind-wipe like everyone else. When all was said and done and reorganization could take place, it was found that Aelric was the highest ranking officer of his tank company -- because he was the only one left. As the Death Korps abided by meritocracy, it was only fitting that he be promoted to Captain and be made its commander. And like all officers who call Krieg their homeworld, Aelric was not lax or cowardly in his command in that he lead from the middle or the back -- he lead from the front, as true warriors of the Emperor should, meeting death head-on and meeting it with acceptance, yet also with the full intentions of meting it out. He chose Merciful Justice as his command tank, as it was what he first rode on through the ghostly ruins of what once defined his homeworld, and he intended it to be what he would ride when the Emperor decided that Aelric no longer had a place in His plans. Yet death always avoided Aelric, although it kept on reminding him of its presence through the passing of his comrades-in-arms, and the wounds he would sustain in combat. And it was through more war that he became a Major, becoming commanding officer of the 128th's 1st Battalion, and through even more war that he found himself being dragged out by a techpriest enginseer from the slowly-burning carcass of his beloved Merciful Justice, with all but two of its crew, including Aelric, surviving the effects of a busta bomb from an Ork Kommando who had come to assassinate him. Evacuated off-world, he spent months in a medical bay of the Imperial Cruiser Godhammer, before finally recovering to find that the 128th's 1st battalion's leadership had been taken over. As much as he wanted to return to service, however, it was deemed by the chief biologis of Godhammer that he was not in any shape to fight, and that he must recover first, lest he fail and collapse on the battlefield. Aelric had lost both of his legs from the Kommando attack, and was now struggling to learn how to walk on bionics. To keep him occupied during his recovery, Lord General Robert Guiscard of the 4,229th Army and on-board Godhammer basically ordered him to enroll in war college, as it was becoming a pain to keep him from trying to storm out of the medbay to return to his regiment, and he had yet no noble pedigree nor academic papers to justify his being an officer for the regiments outside of Krieg, so it would be a good investment for him. Reluctantly, the Krieg Major was offloaded at the civilized world of Ankara, which boasted a university dedicated solely to war, where the spoiled and ambitious nobles of of nearby realms, all under the banner of Ultramar, could learn to wage war. Yet Aelric was disgusted by the academic setting, how very clean it was, and how incredibly detached it was from real war. He found his youthful classmates and schoolmates to be brats, chasing skirts instead of completing their education for death, and he made friends only with the former military officers that formed the bulk of the teaching staff. And even then, they were not from Krieg, so he could not truly understand them, and they not truly understand him. At the same time receiving bionics therapy from the local techpriests, he completed this hell of four years with flying colors. Such was his disgust that he refused the artificer power sword presented to him at the graduation ceremony, although he was polite with his refusal. Four years away from war distressed Aelric's warrior heart, though thankfully, when he had returned to Krieg, he was amongst the top of the list to immediately be organized and assigned to new regiments. The 133rd Tank Regiment had been destroyed in the firestorm that was the Orkish Green Kroosade, and was being reformed on Krieg. With its survivors, a small group of hardened veterans at its core, they welcomed Aelric as their new commanding officer and did their best to impart their knowledge upon the fresh-faced youths who would make the bulk of the regiment. During his fleeting visit home, he visited his parents -- something almost unheard of for those in the Imperial Guard, since most never make it back home -- and thanked them for raising what had become a good warrior. When the time came for Aelric to depart, wrinkles and smiles creased alike the faces of Gertrud and Frank Tancred as they watched their son ascend up the ramp and into the maw of a waiting starship once more, not as a faceless grunt, but as a leader of men. His destination? A Forge World beset by Orks and Chaos. Just another day in His glorious service.
