Ah yes, in that case I suppose that he would order Davos and some men to the plateau - however it could be interesting to partially disobey the order, which is why I don't think he'll go himself. 

I also think a cool moment for meeting Athel would be during the fighting - which is why I'm leaning that way at the moment.
