I figured it only applied to his skin, What I mean was, say touches a rock: he gets rock skin, which could be used as armour. Does he also get the pattern of the rock on his skin, kind of like camouflage? Or just the 'armour'?

Alright- so when I said he gets rock skin I meant that he gets rock skin. As in his skin turns in to rock. As in it looks like and is rock so yes it can be armor AND camo.
