[i] Maybe something like a fall festival- so the start of going back to school after the long summer? Or opposite being the summer festival so the ending of the long fall/winter. I like the idea of rides and games and other stuff. I can see people still being rude during this time- maybe they meet up somewhere and are actually have fun with one another? 

If you want to incorporate the youth night with that- it could be the "youth group" is going to the carnival as a group and they end up getting split up once they get their even though they are supposed to stick together and be a group. Kids always do that stuff- cause no matter what their are cliques xD 

If not the same night- good ideas for opportunities for them to meet again![/i]
