Name: Harper Neion Race: Human Augmentics: Besides the neural uplink with his ship, Harper’s right eye is bionic and looks almost completely natural other than the crystalline blue color of the iris; Harper also has a bionic arm in place of his left arm as well as an uplink to the arm around the base of his neck. Rank: Captain in the Royal Navy; Second in Command of Special Task Force Rho Alias: The Tinman Physical Description: Harper is a mountain of a man, standing at six foot three with a bulky and toned frame to him. His face and body are riddled with scars from years of service in the Royal Navy. His left eye is a golden brown color while his right is a light crystalline blue color, and is surrounded by burned skin. All of his scars and bionics have aged Harper prematurely, making him look older than a man in his mid-thirties. Personality: Harper is a very brusque man, making most weary to approach him, even his subordinates. The scars and heavy bionics do nothing but increase the weariness of others to approach the mountain of a man. When he does talk to others, it is easy to see he has a very crude sense of humor and a mind built for raids; Harper, while caring about his men’s lives to an extent, is not afraid to risk them to achieve his task in the name of the Royal Navy. Harper is said to be uptight with his men, demanding great amounts of respect; this has been attributed to him being extremely bitter about being stuck as a Captain.
Nothing of interest can really be said about Harper’s early life; he was raised as a military child and in turn followed his father’s footsteps into the Royal Navy. Throughout his service Harper suffered two disfiguring injuries. The first of these injuries cost Harper his right eye barely six years into his service. The ship he was stationed on, The Queen’s Hound was heading a charge to break through enemy lines in an attempt to break the blockade they had over Odros. The Queen’s Hound took heavy damage as it led the charge, reducing it to little more than a hulk of metal afloat in space. During the battle, Harper was commanding one of the crews in charge of firing the plasma batteries and one of the enemy’s bombers hit the station he was in, causing an explosion to overtake the entire crew, killing most and severely injuring the rest. Harper was rushed to the med bay along with the other survivors. He was told he was the luckiest of the crew and had just escaped with heavy burns across the right side of his face and neck and one less eye. The Royal Navy was victorious that day in regaining Odros, and Harper was promoted to Lieutenant and given medals for “admirable duty”. After the time he was given to heal and adjust to his new bionic eye, Harper was put in command of a Carcharadon Destroyer called The Lance. Finally being put in command of his own ship, Harper was out to prove himself. He served faithfully in his new position despite his dislike for the Admiral he was serving under; the man was an arrogant noble who never hesitated in lording his title and wealth over all of his subordinates. Harper did his best to ignore this aspect of duty and carried out his orders as best he could. After four years and two more promotions to the rank of Commander, Harper met yet another tragedy when he lost his left arm. The tragedy came during the defense of Adriatus. The enemy attacked out of nowhere, taking out two of the King’s ships before the defense could respond. When it did, though, it responded in tandem. Harper took up his position as a line runner, his ship swooping in and maneuvering through the enemy line and wreaking havoc until he was surrounded and ordered to continue attacking. Harper attempted to pull his ship out of the encirclement of enemy ships, but The Lance was attacked from all side at once, sending it to the surface of Adriatus as a flaming chunk of metal and flesh. Harper proved lucky once more when he survived the crash with nothing more than scars across his face and body and without his left arm. The Admiral promoted Harper to the rank of Captain and gave him a new ship as a reward; Harper even got to name this new vessel of his. He christened it The Rook and chose to use this new vessel as a long range defense carrier. Despite the injuries, Harper continued serving faithfully and quickly rose to the rank of Commodore, but it was then that his career was effectively snatched from him. The Admiral he held such disdain for had been drinking on his shore leave as was Harper. The Admiral found Harper and drunkenly began to insult him, throwing up his cowardice at Adriatus in his face, saying he should have stayed in the midst of the enemy, sacrificing his life and the lives of his men for the King and then maybe the explosion of ship would have been useful for taking out more enemies. The Admiral continued to insult Harper, saying that he was a coward just like his father was. Harper had had enough when his father was insulted and threw caution to the wind, striking the man with his bionic arm and dislocated his jaw. After that night, Harper was brought before a council and was demoted to Captain, had the thought of promotion made near impossible for him, and was told he and his ship would be repositioned among the raiders allowed to the join the Royal Navy as raiders; the Admiral got away with little more than a slap on the wrist for poor conduct while in uniform. Harper has now been a part of Special Task Force Rho for somewhere around three years and has become the second in command of the raider task force.

Ship Name: The Rook Ship Type: Indoril Class Strike Cruiser Semi-Sentience Profile: The Rook has imprinted most of its personality from one its former owners, making the ship as cold and calculating if not more so than its current Captain. The two are known to work in fantastic sync during battles, as if the ship can read the Captain’s mind. Escort Ships: Ship Details/History: - Population: 23,000 - Primary weapons/fleet function: The Rook is mainly used to fire on enemy lines from long range, launch the main bulk of the strikecraft in an encounter, and secure escape lines for allies in battles and cut off escape routes for the enemy. The Rook has more than the average number of plasma batteries on each broadside because of the additional reactor energy it utilizes from the sacrifice of an extra back breaker cannon to house another hangar bay. - Marine contingent details: Having focused more on its strikecraft contingent, The Rook does not have near the number of Marines as other ships, totaling at around two thousand Marines. The Marines that are aboard The Rook are primarily orbital drop troopers. - Strikecraft contingent details: The Rook is the primary long range craft in Task Force Rho, and so has added an additional hangar bay at the cost of a third back breaker cannon, making it home to: seventy-five Archangel fighter bombers, eighteen Impi assault shuttles, and four cutters.
