Ditto. They needed $5000 dollars to pay for the surgery, and they got $7500 in just eight hours. I must say, Rooster Teeth as a helluva community.

Indeed they do. Though it certain has its less than pleasant spots. Anyway, in shameless self promotion, I present the Madoka Magica-RWBY fusion fic I mentioned before, Shattered Mirrors. Currently only on chapter 3, in the Initiation. It's been adhering to canon thus far for the most part, but I'd like to think there are enough changes to keep it interesting, and I have interesting plans going forward.

Our friend, inspiration and co-worker Monty Oum passed away yesterday afternoon at 4:34 PM surrounded by people who loved him very much. Ten days ago Monty suffered a severe allergic reaction during a simple medical procedure that left him in a coma. Although he fought bravely, his body was not able to recover. During his time in the hospital he was well cared for and never in pain at any time. Monty is survived by his wife Sheena, his father Mony, his brothers Woody, Sey, Chivy and Neat, and his sisters Thea and Theary, as well as a countless number of fans and friends. We were so proud to be a part of his life and we will miss him greatly. Your generosity during the hours after the public statement on Friday will help his family deal with the costs of his care and his passing. You made an incredible difference during a difficult time and we cannot thank you enough. As for honoring Monty, we will do that in our own way. In lieu of flowers or gifts, we ask that you simply do something creative. Use your imagination to make the world a better place in any way that you can. If you know Monty like we do, then you know he would certainly be doing that if he were able to. Monty was 33 years old. We love you, Monty.

My thoughts go out to him and his family as he was a brilliant creative soul. I think we can all agree on that for sure. RIP Monty.

I can't believe this. I can't imagine how horrible this is for his friends and family. His work with Rooster Teeth impacted me. Because of his baby RWBY, I have many new friends, and for that I thank him. Rooster Teeth and RWBY won't be the same without him. Rest in peace, Monty Oum. You will be sorely missed.

I JUST HEARD THE NEWS ABOUT THIRTY MINUTES AGO. Monty, no. He'll be forever missed. He was a goddamn inspiration and I still refuse to believe he's dead. But man, rest in peace, the fandom, the company, your family and friends will always remember the legacy you left.

I didn't even know this thread existed here, but I'm glad it does. I had an unexpectedly hard time when I heard the news, and my love and support goes out to the entire fandom, and his family and friends. Today we lost a truly great person, but I'm sure that his over ones are comforted by the immense amount of shared grief and support that's coming from the fandom. Screw peace. Rest in love, laughter, great music and epic battle scenes, Monty. You will never be forgotten. (After all, internet is forever.)

It might not mean much... but I caught my second wild Shiny Pokémon, an Absol. I thought for a while, and decided to name him Monty-dono. I couldn't help it. My mind and heart has been with Monty Oum's friends and family ever since his death. At the very least, this Pokémon will remind me of all of the people that I've met because of Monty Oum's work.

I'll admit it, that did make me cry. This entire thing is hitting me so much harder than I expected it to. Maybe it's not just the loss of one incredible man; maybe it's what it represents. I don't know, but every time I think I'm okay I get torn up again. Is anyone else getting hit harder than they thought they would?

I don't know, but every time I think I'm okay I get torn up again. Is anyone else getting hit harder than they thought they would?
[Raises hand.] I mean, when famous people generally die, it doesn't hit me that hard. Death never really affects me, not even close family death. Not strongly anyway. But Monty Oum was a valid part of my life, despite me never even meeting the guy in person. Because of his work, I've met countless friends and left behind some creative pieces and characters of my own. I'll tell you, the guy really did leave behind a legacy. It's not just a bunch of people sending their prayers to the family because it's tragic -- it's because most of them feel the pain too.
