Altering loot can be done at the Magical Research Society. Their research would include applying magic to technology and other things like that, so they'll have the necessary knowhow and equipment. Characters can also learn how to alter loot themselves from the MRS if you'd like. The loot you got from the Blighted Woods should serve you especially well, considering I would think the Cactus Cat is a Nature-type summon. 

For fish, I'm sure the school has a private lake somewhere for water magic/aquatic monster fighting/etc training.

Should I make a map of school grounds, maybe? I kinda wanted to just let it be free-form but I could whip up something relatively easily.
