The courthouse continued burning, but the monsters kept coming! The monsters seemed to be getting smart, however, and were not attacking the three impromptu heroes who had fought back. The monster blinded by Datura writhed ground a few feet away from her, trying to rub its gigantic eye with its wings, two of the flying monsters were ripping at a man and woman who couldn't get away, and one hulking cyclops about twice the size of a man and four times as broad lumbered toward the well, too slow to have been incinerated along with the other monsters caught in Sylvester's explosion.

It seemed that these were the last remaining monsters, but the courthouse was starting to collapse and cries could be heard coming from inside!
