The construct staggered back, slightly damanged. This gave Larek an opening to hit it, sending it back a short distance. While damaged, the construct responded with a back-handed blow which connected with Larek's snout, sending him flying to the ground. Tala charged up anothr fireball, which hit the construct square in the torso, blowing it in half. Larek got to his feet and spat out two fangs which had been knocked loose. Luckily, dracons kept replacing teeth for their entire lives, so it was not a serious injury. Much to his surprise, the construct's upper half kept crawling at them, despite its damage. "These things don't feel pain, do they?" Larek asked Tala. "No. They don't know pain, or pity, or remorse, or fear, and they absolutely will not stop, ever, until-" Larek finished that with a blow to the construct's head, causing the glow in its eyes to slowly fade to black. He examined the sword wound he had made in it. "They have a gem in their head. It must be what powers them." ------------------------ "Well, I appreciate the gesture, Tran" Orna replied. She wasn't helpless, but she stifled her urge to bring the topic up. Tran was trying to be nice to her and she appreciated it. "Just lead the way, then." ------------------------ "I'd be glad to show you, my dear" Kos replied, getting a basket for the wool. "I'm just glad my father gave us so many things to get the farm started with." ------------------------ "Well, the only way to find out is to practice" Veax replied. "I'm just grateful that music exists. Life would be so dull without it. Also, I wonder what the others are up to? Kos is probably on some adventure, and Larek is probably at home shearing sheep or something. I have no idea what Caex is doing."
