Yeah, laugh at my bicycle infantry. Its funny how the presence of bicycles can turn the march of ten thousand soldiers into an almost humorous thing. I readily admit that.

But they also have a large number of tactical, operational, and strategic advantages in this pre-mechanized army setting. At bare minimum allowing troops to march longer, faster, and harder for equivalent exertion. That, and I think they are cool. Which is always a factor in a steampunk setting.
