Greetings, everyone. Maximum Comics is the successor to my run of Ultimate DC, a superhero reimagining and dedicated collaborative writing game that was often seen as the companion piece to All-Star Marvel, which I believe is now currently under new management since [@Dedonus] took the reins in a very appreciative show of support of the established game. I would like to thank that individual for that as since nearly a year ago the games we designed disappeared from notice. There’s a lot of apt criticism that could be said on any sole issue but that’s not what this thread is about, this thread is an announcement and interest check. As I delegated with the leftover key members of Ultimate DC and All-Star Marvel, I realized a lot of things and we discussed and brainstormed what the ideal avenue would be. It is here that we decided to rebrand our games as Maximum Comics, following in the influence of the One Universe game that the members from Superherohype established. So here we are with Maximum Comics, a rebrand of both DC and Marvel—which is clear as both me and Ersatz have put a lot of time into considering the proper way to bring this back in the best way possible. It’s clear that we both still want to write superhero stories as we have expressed interest in a variety of games since our own went on indefinite hiatus. But this is not a classic, “year one” reboot so to speak. The RP will begin ICly in Winter 2010. The continuity will take place during an Insurrection planned out by the ambiguous secret society that is led by Vandal Savage as they announce themselves publicly to the world in a show of brutal actions against the Justice League. Writers who take hold of members of the Justice League will be responsible to play out these events against their characters as they become subject to these assaults in the tone of “Tower of Babel”. The world will engulf in a frenzy as the major heroes are taken out in ways that previously would have seemed impossible. This is the main plot point of our beginning. However, there are other encounters and arcs to be designed here and playing a ‘parent character’ would require setting up your spiel of rogues, allies, and wards throughout your recent history as a vigilante. There will be examples once the OOC has been posted and I’ll be here for Q&A with other members until that happens. It’s safe to say legacy characters will be at the least defined by our major heroes, but there will be no applying for the likes of Dick Grayson and their history until there is a Batman; there will be no Kara-El before there is a Superman; no Roy Harper without Green Arrow—this is not a new practice though, so I suppose I should move on to the ones that are. There will be no POVing a major villain who is part of a rogues gallery (ie: Joker to Batman) unless that parent hero is being played. But you know the drill from thereon—lore established by the parent character is seen as canon continuity unless they decide to be favorable and modify it as they know cooperation is the name of the game with this stuff. There will be more to say as time goes on, but I have a busy Febuary/March, but I will be working around the clock to answer questions and make sure the game doesn’t launch rather in 2016. Despite the failings of this brand in the last two years, I think I have it all figured out and have a nestled group of GM management that can make it work and not solely depend on my ambition alone. Think of this as a sort of announcement-meets-interest check. http://www.roleplayerguild.com/topics/77554-maximum-comics-insurrection/ooc
