[u][b]Biography[/b][/u]
Ma was born to a coven of Witches that lived secluded from the rest of the world of Lucis, deep a tangled forest, filled with darkness and old Magicks. Witches would be trained by the coven and then sent out to journey among the other races, crafting and selling Magical trinkets and items for the inhabitants of towns they passed through. In this way they could use their craft to support their isolated community, returning on occasion with a portion of their hard earned money that the coven could use to buy much needed supplies from nearby villages. When a Witch became too old to travel, they would retire to a life of teaching the next generation. Ma was in the midst of her travels when she received the invitation to join the Academy.

Ma is a bit of a space case, ignorant of modern technology and fascinated by it. She is easily distracted and has trouble focusing on anything that doesn't catch her interest. The only time she's guaranteed to focus one hundred percent is when she is crafting a magical item.

Combat relies heavily on Ma's items. If she didn't have the foresight to craft something to defend against a specific threat, then there isn't much she can do. She is afraid of thunder and lightning. She is also extremely near-sighted and, without her glasses, is practically blind.

Ma is a prodigy in the field of Witchcraft, the practice of crafting items and binding spirits, intangible wisps of sentient magical energy, into them to infuse them with Magical traits.

[u][b]Familiar[/b][/u]
Witches are always accompanied by a familiar, a Magical creature that they are bonded to for life. The Familiar plays an important role in Witchcraft as it draws spirits close and allows the Witch to trap and bind them into items.

Ma's Familiar is a foul-mouthed Hellcat named Sid. A Hellcat is created when a spirit possesses a normal cat, causing it to change physically and gain the ability of speech. Sid was possessed as a kitten and is perpetually ill-tempered. He remains inside her coat or under her hat for the most part, emerging only when it is required of him.

Technically spirits can be bound into just about anything, but it is easier to bind them into item crafted from wood harvested from the trees of the dark forest, For this reason she has brought a sapling with her to the Academy, to continue her craft.
