I have a few backup ideas for throwaway characters: the spoony elven bard who wants to adventure for creative inspiration, a completely normal farmhand who believe he's the main character of some cliché, destined to become some fantastic hero.
Both would be great for searching for traps via the Barbarian Method (running ahead and seeing what happens)
