I dunno, I've yet to see Ozpin do anything that counts as 'incredibly genre savvy'. I mean, we could draw attention that not only did they let the terrorist in (which I can excuse), and the guy who faked his transcripts (less excusable, they should have had experience with that sort of thing), they also let Cinder, Emerald, and Mercury into the school, in spite of Goodwitch knowing about Cinder, with the three villains even having to adopt a disguise beyond some other schools uniform.

Not seeing the genre savvy here.
