Borodine was astonished that the thief did not pursue the man who just shoved past him, Borodine now saw this as a point where he should follow this man because he must have something interesting so he stopped haggling over the food with the merchant and then began to pursue said man. 

By the time Borodine caught up with the man he caught him by the shoulder and said in between his heaving breaths.

"Kid stop for a second I need to speak with you..." 

Borodine took a second to catch his breath then continued 

"You seem like an interesting fellow, heaving that mugger aside what's your name?".
