What do the RPGC staff do? A few of us handle administrative junk to make ourselves feel important. For most people, joining RPGC for a contest means you'll take on the following tasks: 1. Work with the team to come up with contest ideas. 2. Help create the 'Contest Thread,' including any special rules, themes, or twists the team wants to see. 3. Read everything that comes in, and decide on that month's 'Staff Picks.' 4. Write something of your own, I hope! It's not strictly mandatory, but it is your contest, after all! 5. When it's time to vote, make sure everybody's getting enough feedback to be helpful, and participate in the conversation. 6. When it's done, let us know if there's anything we can do to help make the process run smoother in the future. There's no strings attached -- you're in for as long as you like, and if you need a break, you can always come back later. It's teamwork, all the way through -- and a few deadlines that might need you to show some initiative. But overall, we want your time on RPGC staff to be as much fun as the contest itself. The administrator-types will help sort out any manpower issues, and we'll pitch in as necessary to make sure we're done on time -- but really, you literally make the contest happen, down to the last detail. How do I join? I thought you'd never ask. Simply leave a post in this thread here, saying you're interested. The first contest thread is pre-packaged and almost ready to go, courtesy of the Founding Staff -- but we'll need a few fresh minds to handle the last parts of the process (mostly formatting, then reading, critiquing, and voting). This is also the perfect time to get started on RPGC #2, the second contest, which should hit the forum in March. If you'd like to pitch in on either effort (or both), leave a reply here. All the behind-the-scenes stuff is done through PM threads, with the whole staff included in the conversation. Once we've got a crew for each contest, I'll get the process started in your inbox. We're limited to ten participants in each private thread -- but if we fill up one contest crew, we can start loading the next one, so there's always more room.

I'm interested, but unfortunately for me school just started recently so I might not be as active as other people. Still, I have a lot of ideas which I want to use somewhere and this might be a nice place to start I suppose.

Special Bulletin! We're launching very soon (around March 1st, NOT a solid promise though). As this is the first contest, we have some special staffing needs to fill. RPGC#1 is essentially finished and ready to launch -- but we need a few staffers to help read and review submissions, and select the Staff Pick winners. It's not a full contest workload -- but it is still a bit of a commitment, best suited to people who are pretty sure they're going to participate in the contest anyway, and wouldn't mind paying a little extra attention to the critiques. You're still allowed (encouraged, actually) to submit an entry of your own for the contests you work on, so have no fear on that account. Since it's a smaller workload, I'm only looking for about 4-5 people to fill out the RPGC#1 staff -- again, you'll be reading, critiquing, and selecting staff-pick winners (and hopefully you'll be entering a story of your own as well). I'll get in touch with people who've already expressed interest, but if you'd also like to volunteer for RPGC#1's smaller workforce, simply leave a reply saying as much. Simultaneously, this is the perfect time to start working on RPGC#2, which will go live in April. This will be the full workload -- RPGC#2 staff gets to take on the whole enchilada, brainstorming ideas, drawing up themes, special rules, staff pick categories, and anything else you can dream up; then, when the contest goes live, you'll be reading, critiquing, voting, entering, etc. I'll be guiding the process along to make sure we're actually hitting deadlines, but RPGC#2 staffers get to be in charge of essentially every aspect of the contest. Which is pretty cool! If you'd like to volunteer for RPGC#2's full-on task force (up to nine people), now's the time to volunteer. Last and not least -- I've noticed a distinct lack of color in the RPGC world, and it's probably got something to do with how shoddy my graphics work is. Well, if you know your way around a graphics program, maybe you can help! We're looking for art -- whether that's for the contest threads, or for the various RPGC meta-threads, or maybe you just think this would all look a lot more professional if there were a jellyfish just ---> there. Fantastic! We're starting to put together the RPGC #2 crew -- not sure how much room we have at the moment but I'll put you right up at the top of the list. If we're too full for everyone, I'll start piling up names for #3, and on and on. We'll get you in here, one way or another!

I time is very wishy-washy at certain points. (Usually I for a week I'll be offline, or very limited)

I am interested in submitting art however, for the banner. :) I'd rather not be a part of the "behind the scenes crew" because, as I said, my time is very unstable. So if there is someone who can tell me the theme and I can PM back with a submission, I'd be more than happy. I'm practicing my photo manipulation skills and I am actively looking for challenges.

I would like to help out, if it is at all possible. I can probably make time, 1-2 hours a day, to work on this, because even though I'm in school, I'm homeschooled and so it's not terribly busy. I'd be able to read and critique everything that is submitted; in fact, I vaguely plan to do that for contest #1, even though I'm not a part of the contest crew.

Test/Note -- The anti-necro feature should now be functioning properly, and this thread can once again be used to volunteer services on the RPGC staff. We're currently getting ready to staff #4 -- the process has become much more streamlined and much more new-face friendly, so at this point what we need most are people willing to offer meaningful reviews. Also, anyone with ideas about how to shake up the contest format (maybe something new and clever to replace/modify bonus categories?) we want you involved!

And if you're interested in graphics support, we can always use more help in that department.
