Government Type: Oligarchy in the form of the Court of Azagôde. But the Ashlord is the undisputed ruler of Uudhin, and Azagôde answers to him. Currency: none Language: The original language used by Axohaan and his lieutenants was a corrupted dialect of Varyon. This corrupted Varyon dialect is still used by the Courtiers of Azagôde and captains of Uudhin today. It is the language mostly reserved for the higher-ups amongst Axohaan’s following. After Axohaan’s defeat and disappearance, the Ghûls distorted his language over the centuries into something harsh and hideous, with slithery words that other races find difficult to compass, and few are willing to make the attempt. The language spoken by the Ghûls today is a far cry from the original Varyon it was modelled after, and has evolved into the first ever Ghûl language. The Ghûl tongue is spoken rampantly by the inhabitants of Uudhin including some of the local Jahun-Ka and humans. So in summary; the two languages used in Uudhin are Grey Varyon(also known as Azagôdean Varyon) and the Ghûl Speech, whom are more-or-less related. The ‘Common Tongue’ isn’t spoken. And if the Ghûls were to hear anyone speak it that person will be immediately attacked. The Ghûls tell friend from foe by their language, whether they can pronounce either Ghûl Speech or Grey Varyon. Population: None can say for sure, but approximately 10 million and rapidly growing. (population also includes enemies of Azagôde into hiding, such as the Moonlander minority.) Realm Size: Empire Unique Trait #1: Breeding Magic - The Ashlord and his Court are able to breed their own Ghûl population with foul-smelling sorcery, and do this as they please. This also means that most of the population is being badly neglected – they can be easily replaced - even when they are sent to war against Axohaan’s enemies. Unique Trait #2: Unique Flaw #1: Grasp of Azagôde - The further his Ghûl servants move away from Azagôde … the weaker the Ashlord’s control over them is. This causes a significant morale penalty and may result in troops deserting and even rebelling & going rogue. Unique Flaw #2:

-World-Realm Map: Maroon territory in the north-east are the Greys of Uudhin. Internal-Realm Map: (To be uploaded!) Major Cities: Uîrn Kettukhûr Located Northeast of Uudhin, Kettekhûr is a lone fishery that has fallen into disuse. Ghûls don’t fish. Their sole motive in life is to inflict pain, but not necessarily to fish. Uîrn Dolihn Dolva as it was known to the Phiorafates. Once a trading hub, now a mustering grounds for Ghûls. - Major Castles: Shrâta, to the Moonlanders of Phiore known as the Starkeep, is one of the greater Ghûl strongholds in Uudhin. It was once the residence of the Phiorafate kings, the last of which was King Yaroval. - Buildings of Interest: The Ashen Fortress of Azagôde, from whence the Ashlord reigns. A colossal structure whose labyrinthine hallways and tunnels spread for miles across the Forlorn mountains in every direction. Leading deep down the tunnels are colossal vaults where prisoners of various races are held, and smithy chambers where the Ashlord works his mordant spells. Numerous chimneys go up through the towers of Azagôde spewing poisonous fumes to the heavens. - The Udeyean Gates, an ancient Moonlander construction built by the Grand Simariy. It is one of the greatest and most impressive fortifications in the world. After a millennium, it continues to stand and serve today. They are a barrier against the lands of Somnus for the plains of Uudhin to the east. The Udeyean Gates have had various changes of ownership through the ages. Initially it was controlled by the Simariy Moonlanders to ward off human invaders. Later it was used by those very human invaders, the Somnites, to ward off hostile beastkin from Kadulum. And finally came Rhokaur, who paved the Udeyean Gates red with the blood of those who few that still manned it… The Gates are named after the ancient god Udeye. Grand Temple of the Old Ways (still working on a name), located in Nevelwold. Built by the old Grand Simariy Dynasty of the Moonlands. Residence of the Phiorafate Sage Zhisnobud. - ---Bridge A long, stone bridge of ancient Moonlandish design. Built centuries ago by the Old Simariy to span the --- Fissure. Since the day of its construction, the --- bridge has been the only easy way to cross over to the other side, as walking around the ravine will be a week’s walk at least. Back in the day it was an important focal point for traders and travellers with business on either side of the Fissure. However the bridge fell into disuse under Phiore, serving mostly as an access point for exiles to traverse into Kadulum. Nowadays the --- Bridge has found its use again as a cross over point for the Ashbringer Legions. Geographic Features of Interest: -The Greys of Uudhin; barren, desolate and industrious. With the notable exception of Nevelwold, all natural resources and things of beauty are being stripped relentlessly to feed the Ashlord’s warmachine. ---- The Forlorn Peaks, to the Ghûls and other followers of Axohaan known as the Teeth of Aukarûng; located at the centre of Uudhin wherein the Ashlord’s massive Citadel is located. It is an ominous, jagged and canyon-like mountain range spanning the entire continent of Kadulum north to south. Being home of the Ghûls even before Axohaan made his presence known, few travellers have dared cross these mountains. Nowadays hundreds of pit-like crevices have appeared from whence hundreds of fresh Ghûls emerge with every day, spawning in numbers as never before. Likely the Ashlord’s foul magics are at work in those black pits. Gods know what could be going on down there... - Nevelwold; a forest to the north-west of Uudhin, whose roots have turned toxic and corrupted by Axohaan’s befouling presence. This deadly forest serves as a natural barrier for the plains of Uudhin to the south. It was once amongst those most gorgeous, mystical and prized forests of Phiore. Now, it’s an accursed marsh beckoning to death. At the heart of Nevelwold is located The Hidden Temple of ---. - The Fauax Crescent; a complex of massive furnaces and quarries. It is where most of the Ghûls are outfitted for war. The Crescent is the closest thing to what outsiders would consider a ‘city’ due to its dense population of slaves and patrolling Ghûl scouts and commissars. The black toxic fumes from Fauax defile the skies of Uudhin. Birds and animal life that used to dwell above Uudin have long since dispersed. The thick smog therefrom blots out the sunlight during most of the day, even causing occasional ash and dust falls in the nearby plains. - Hallarshe Fen; covering most of Uudhin east of the Forlorn Peaks. A murky marshland with a very low population. The recent air pollution from Azagôde and the Fauax Crescent has made the fen even more foggy and filthy than it already was. - --- Fissure, also known as the Black Abyss, is a deep, near bottomless ravine in southern Kadulum. It is approximately the border line separating the Marchlands and Uudhin. The only means of crossing over into Uudhin is through the Bridge of ---. When you look down the ravine, you see nothing but a black void. On sunny days, you may sometimes be able to make out the bottom. However due to Axohaan’s presence in Kadulum, most of the continent is literally obscured in a vast shadow making the dark void of the --- Fissure even darker. What one can expect to be down the fissure are likely sulphurous and jagged rocks. So if the fall wasn’t already deadly as it was, rest assured those rocks ensure no mortal creature will ever make it out.

Majority Race: Ghûl

-Majority Race Characteristics: The Ghûls are a race of thralls of the Ashlord. Axohaan has bred the Ghûls to be his soldiers, but in their hearts they hate their master. A subspecies of Beastkin, shaped and wrought for the sole purpose of serving Axohaan’s ambitions, his wars and his quest to challenge the Gods – Yuwan in particular. Furthermore, he filled the Ghûls with his hatred, arrogance and will to destroy and unmake the realms of Avara. The Ghûls are little more than a bad imitation of their master. And as the Ghûls as a race are bound to him -- and all times at his mercy -- they can do little but obey… That is, so long they stay within Azagôde’s reach. And they will, for it is their lot in life to fulfill Axohaan’s plan unto its bitter end. They are miserable creatures who hate everything and everyone, including themselves. However Ghûls are not dim-witted, they can occasionally be crafty. Ghûls are experts at trickery, creating cunning traps and devices made to hurt and destroy. It is about the only thing they do well. The lack of brute strength and stature compared to their older Yoreghûl variant is made up by their cunning and cruelty. They also have an inherent inferiourity complex and burning envy of the free races, unbound to a master. This frustration is a bolster to their ruthlessness, and so Ghûls make for excellent slavers, wardens and dungeon interrogators. In height they are about the size of humans, but most Ghûls are hunched forward and therefore appear to be shorter than Men. However a Ghûl can come in various shapes and sizes. Some are specifically bred for a specific role in Azagôde’s society and may therefore be of differing quality; with more physical prowess, stamina or intelligence than other Ghûl. Ghûls are exclusively male, and as such can not procreate as other races do. Minority Races: -Phiorafate Moonlanders -Jahun-Ka exiles & their descendants -Somnite Human exiles & their descendants -Various unnamed Monster and Beastkin races Minority Race Apearance(s): -The Moonlanders of Phiore are tall, slender and handsome. And this in stark contrast to the indelicate and nasty Ghûls that now dominate the land. The members of Phiore tend to have mostly feminine features, even the males. Their skins are light and fair as silk, and their hair have colours ranging from moon silver to autumn leaf red… some Phiorafates even have purple-ish blond hair. Like any other decent Moonlander they have long flat noses, vibrant coloured slanted eyes and – believe it or not – antlers at the top of their heads. The Phiorafate Moonlanders tend to trim these antlers when they grow too large, however. Mostly they are little more than decorative stumps, save for the fundamental and shamanic Priorafates who turn it into a challenge to grow their antlers as large and impressive as possible. Large antlers are a sign of masculinity to the Phiorafate. And due to their tribe’s overall feminine character, this is deemed an extraordinary quality. Especially when it is a female Phiorafate who grows them! -Jahun-Ka appearance can be found in the sheet of the Kingdom of Karkarth. Minority Race Characteristics: The Phiorafates are the natives of Uudhin. Collectively they are known as Phiore, a proud Moonlander Clan. The Phiorafates were always extraordinarily hospitable to outsiders. Their land of Kadulum (now renamed Uudhin by the Ghûls) was often used as a place to banish exiles to, with the purpose of punishing said wrongdoers. Little did they know however that the local Phiore always embraced these exiles with open arms, nourished them and looked after them. The Phiorafates themselves were mostly a nomadic people. They built few permanent settlements, nor houses or shelters of any kind. Ideally they slept beneath the stars. They are vigorous, tough and strongly attuned to weather and the elements. Wind, rain or snowfall never did bother them. Only in the latter parts of their history did they begin constructing defensive fortifications with the help of human outcasts from Somnus, to ward off the increasing numbers of hostile Ghûls that had started appearing... Even the Jahun-Ka exiles the Phiorafates had always welcomed with open arms. This did not stop the Jahun-Ka outcasts from collaborating with the Ghûls during their conquest of Uudhin, however... Jahun-Ka; in Uudhin also known as ‘the Grey Gahûnh’ for their allegiance to the Ashlord rather than Karkarth, from where their ancestors hailed. ...But also because Ghûls can’t pronounce ‘Jahun-Ka’ with their slithery tongues. The Grey Gahûnh are descendants of dishonourable Karkarth exiles who have embraced the Ashlord as their master. The Grey Gahûnh are amongst Azagôde’s elite warriors due to their superiour physical prowess to Ghûls. Jahun-Ka’s natural attunement to the element of ash has made them easy converts to the Ashlord’s flock.

State Religion: The Refuge of Udeye. In the outside world known as The Ashen Heresy. Religious Information: Axohaan is having himself idolized as a god by the inhabitants of Uudhin. Specifically; the fallen god Udeye – or actually a remnant thereof. But in stark contrast to the esteemed Prophetic God Udeye, Axohaan reaches out more to sinners than the saint. As such his followers could easily be labelled as heretics, Demon-worshipping Cultists. His movement is widely regarded as ‘the Ashen Heresy’. Officially this Religious movement goes under 'Red Pantheon', though Axohaan himself doesn't see it as such. To some, it is the modern incarnation of The Old Ways, but not that of Yuwan, but that of Udeye; the God of Prophecy. On the other hand, and perhaps contradictory, Axohaan despises faith. In fact, during his reign in the Lands of Varyon, he has killed men by the hundreds of thousands for their religious beliefs. Temples were razed, holy sites were defiled. In his eyes, all faith should ultimately perish and make way for modernity, for industry. Holy Relics In Possession: Holy Sites Under Control: Grand Temple of the Old Ways (still thinking on a name) Magical Schools and Curriculum: Unknown

Total Military Size 245.000 Ghûls active -- Axohaan can call upon many more (mostly the Yahkraa) as a militia unit, however… 5.000 Jahun-Ka An untold number of other monsters from the Marchlands that have been enlisted to the Red God’s service. Military Details of the Ashbringer Legions Ghûl: -Pikemen, also known as Gêsh, the common foot soldier in the Ashbringer Legions. Ghûls that have been given long pikes for distanced-attacks and to keep cavalry away with little difficulty. Pikes are cheap and easy to mass-produce. For the large number of Ghûls that spawn every day, pikes are the ideal weapon to be armed with, cheap and effective. Only a lucky few Ghûl Pikemen are armoured however. -Halberdiers, also known as Garrak, a considerably less common soldier. These are the better equipped and proven warriors of the Ashlord’s forces. Given basic martial training and partially clad in metal, Garrak are armed with large brutal halberds. They are a significant improvement to the Gêsh Pikemen. -Yahkraa: The weakest unit in the Ashlord’s legion. These are Ghûls with little to no armour who carry spiked clubs and crude spears into battle. Yahkraa are the most disposable unit and mostly thrown at the enemy ranks to distract them and/or wear them down, before the Azagôde warlords send in their stronger units to finish them off... The Ghûls with the unfortunate privilege of being assigned this role are mostly those who have been deemed physically incompetent, insubordinate or shown blatant character flaws. Also the mentally ill and handicapped Ghûls fill this unit, the failed experiments of Azagôde. -Gâshakke (roughly translates to Great Basher): the sturdiest unit. Wholly clad in metal with a large bronze shield in one hand and a flail, mace or hammer in the other. They may be the least deft, but are very powerful Ghûl warriors. Excellent at engaging enemy infantry and keeping them occupied for lengthy periods of times, giving weaker Ghûl units the opportunity to flank them. They form the solid core of the Ashbringer Legions. Gâshakke are also the Guard Ghûls patrolling the halls of Azagôde. -Ashûl (roughly translates to Highwayman): the butchers of the legion, the talons in the dark. Their objective is to sow as much pain and suffering on Axohaan’s enemies as (inhumanly) possible. They are armed with composite bows with barbed arrows, as well as machetes and venom-coated knives of various shapes and sizes. They are always camouflaged, lurking in rough terrain and using clever tactics to draw their enemies out to where they are most vulnerable. They are tasked with performing terror strikes; setting up explosives, poisoning nearby wells and water supplies and obstructing the roads and mountain passes. They strike mostly from atop cliffs, dunes and forests. Experts at ambushing, waylaying and setting cunning traps before retreating back into the shadows. The Ghûl Ashûl tends to be the unit responsible for most kills on enemy armies due to their dirty and honourless tactics. Only the meanest, cruellest and stealthiest of the Ghûl spawn are granted this ‘honour’. They strike with such terrible precision and agility that it is believed the Ashlord put a malevolent spell on them. -Shrattôr (literally translates to Metal Masters): They are the operators of technologically advanced weaponry such as mortars and fire-arms. The spawn filling the Shrattôr unit are the Ghûl equivalent of either engineers or musketeers. During their creation, these Ghûls have been given an enhanced intellect to be able to understand the logistics and mechanics of the gear they need operate. They were a vital part of Axohaan’s plan to industrialize his followers. Ghûl Shrattôr are often amateurish when compared to engineers of foreign lands, however. -Kükon. Ghûls that are employed as suicide bombers. Interestingly one of the most important soldiers in the Ashbringer Legions, who can be used to take out the strongest enemies in an instant and blasting holes in their ranks. The Kükon are insane berserkers specifically trained for the task, and so are amongst the tougher and most durable Ghûls in their legion. They are a very esteemed and perhaps ‘honourable’ unit. That is to say, the closest understanding a Ghûl has to the term honour would be to die in a massive explosion and destroy as many foes in so doing. -Beastrider: The unit that assumes the cavalry role in the army. Ghûls ride on all manner of beasts, but horses aren’t amongst them. Their mounts range from large rats, cats and scorpions to boars and hounds. Like so many other thralls of Axohaan, these mounts are specifically bred, twisted and deformed in Azagôde too. Their primal instincts replaced with Axohaan’s murderous hatred. The monstrous steeds of the Ghûls are often made unrecognisable from their original forms. Beastriders don’t serve as a military unit type on their own. They are often mounted Yahkraa or Gâshakke. -Crossbowmen: The unit that assumes the archer role in the army. Ghûls armed with shoddy, poorly constructed crossbows. Poorly designed as they are however, the Ghûl crossbows can blast off a fairly devastating bolt. -Commissar: Overseer of the troops. They keeps the quarrelling Ghûls in line. Armed with whips to discipline the troops and a pistol to execute deserters. They are not so much a warrior unit as the units mentioned above, but do play important roles in legions on the move. Grey Gahûnh (Jahun-Ka battalion): -Berserker: Swordmasters and the most powerful unit in the legion. (WIP) -Dread Knight: Armoured cavalry. (WIP) Siege: Rams of Eschaton The mightiest of all Uudhin’s siege weaponry. These tools are used to smash down entrances to the area under siege. They are formidable and expensive siege weapons; but aided by the Red God’s furious spells laid on them during their forging in Azagôde, one blow is as the strike of a blazing meteorite. They are said to be 60 feet high, 150 feet long, and as thick around as an enormous tree, making it much larger than any other battering ram in Avara. These rams are so heavy that Ghûls usually don’t have the sufficient manpower to operate them, which leads to even worse monsters wrought in Azagôde to utilize them. The Rams of Eschaton contain so much innate evil that it is said the creatures pulling them will occasionally go mad and run through the battlefield, trampling anything and anyone underfoot. Ballista These large siege weapons resemble giant crossbows. A cord at the back would spring forward, releasing normally a spike or a piece of rock or metal. The Ghûl legions also use these to hoist their siege ladders up to the walls. Ladders Siege ladders are extremely tall ladders used to scale large buildings. They are connected to a grappling hook and thrown up against the wall. Ghûl Gâshakke would then climb them. The weight of the soldiers (especially so for heavy Gâshakke) and the grappling hook would make kicking down the ladder more difficult. Mortars A crude Ghûl cannon fuelled by Axohaan’s foul magic and volatile powder. It is mostly used to fire rubble, boulders and metal scraps as well as any other projectile the Ghûl scavengers may turn up with. It is amongst the most high-tech artillery weapon the Legions of Uudhin have. Bombs A metal shell resembling a mace head filled with a black, volatile powder. These bombs are carried and ignited by suicide soldiers known as the Kükon, the insane Ghûl berserkers armed with magnesium torches. Hwacha Rockets (Not yet invented.) With her telepathic mind, she serves an important task as the bridge between the Ashlord and his minions. Also the resurrection of the Ashlord’s physical form was only made possible by her involvement. Ekektheï is a master of deceit. Her most notorious spells are those of illusion, breaking minds and wills, and shapeshifting. She operates mostly in the Focus Chamber of Azagôde, where her spells reach far and wide over the expanses of Uudhin and beyond. It is understood Ekektheï was High Priestess of the Spirit of Ashes, leading a group of Somnite cultists in service of Axohaan long before he assumed physical form. Some say she was an ancient Arch Drathan Wizard in exile. And yet others claim she is somehow the incarnation of Axohaan himself. There are many stories of her origins. All of them are lies. By Rhokaur’s sheer presence alone you can sense his overwhelming hatred. Hatred for the violence of his foes, hatred for himself, and hatred for the Ashlord; who created him to be the monster he is. Frustration only fuels Rhokaur’s strength however and thus be Axohaan’s mightiest Champion. Additionally, Rhokaur is the Ashlord’s oldest servant still alive; said to be centuries old. His origins stem from the Deep South where the Drathan Wizards of Ys had taught Axohaan the craft of breeding beastkin, many many centuries ago… But still considering the berserker of death that he is, age certainly hasn’t held him down. Uri-bataar has sworn bloody vengeance on Karkarth for the way they have (in his eyes) betrayed and forsaken his ancestors. He is already arranging plans for a visit to his ancestral homeland. In fact; he and his agents are busy recruiting local Marchland savages specially for this ‘visit’ they are planning! That is not to say Uri-bataar has a hatred for his fellow Jahun-Ka. More that he desires to see the Kingdom of Karkarth undone for the way they forsake some of their own Jahun-Ka denizens. Despite being a devoted follower of Axohaan, Uri-bataar hates Ghûls; thinking of them as filthy, weak and honourless. He is seldom seen in the company of Ghûls as such and also rarely visits the Fortress of Azagôde… save for when Ekektheï summons him there per occasion.
