Still, quiet and overgrown. That is the world today, that was what everyone who was left had to cope with. Not seeing or talking to another real person for day sometimes week, and in few cases months. This was the case for Troy, a stocky built man with a small amount of facial hair hidden behind his metal mask. He had been walking for a long while now without contact with another "person",leaving him plenty of time to dwell on thoughts of past events; What had happened and what he did to survive. He was walking a road through a lightly forested area when he came upon a sign that read "Brokville". another town to stay in, finally I am tired of sleeping in the woods. he thought as he passed the sign. He gripped his AR that previously hung to his side, swaying as he walked. He checked his magazine 7 rounds left in this one, and one full one left. he patted the chest pocket where the spare magazine was. He also had an empty magazine I his pack, but that was not important at this time. As Troy approached the town he knelt by a tree and squinted as he scanned the houses he could see. Troy was coming in from the East and was pleased to not have seen any infected... yet. Walking into the neighborhood he secured his rifle at his side, unlocked the holster to his pistol and drew his machete from its sheath. Walking from house to house he observed closely how each house looked, and the condition it was in. Being a drifter, meaning Troy never stayed in one place very long, he had come to recognize when a place had already been raided, along with a recognizing when a place looked too good to be safe. as he walked and looked he came upon a house that met what he was looking for and decided to head in. The house was two stories with a decent amount of space to it. Troy tried the door and found it jammed, but his would not deter him from what could be food, water or even more important: medical supplies. looking around making sure he was still alone he proceeded to step back a few feet and brace himself on his left foot as he kicked the door. His first try was unsuccessful so he tried again, this time have a better result. The door came loose and swung violently inward sending wood splinters flying. Troy stood dead silent as he listened for any sounds after the door slamming… Nothing, either this place was truly abandon or someone was very quiet and waiting for him. gripping his machete tight and getting ready to draw he moved into the house taking in every sound and detail he could. The front door went into an entryway the opened to the left into a den or living room, and proceeding forwards was what looked like the kitchen and dining room. they were both clear. moving back to the entryway there was a staircase heading up across from the living room. drawing his pistol Troy slowly moved up the stairs watching and listening for any signs of true life. reaching the top of the stairs he found that stairs exited with a room on either side and a walk way that lead to what would be the master bedroom on the other side of the upstairs. on the floor was a trail of blood, not a lot but enough to see that someone had been moving around up here and were injured. checking the the room to the left of the stairs Troy found it to be the room of a young boy with posters of characters from an action cartoon and some sports stuff laying around. Troy then went to check the room across the way and found it to be a girls room, but she was older. Again there were posters, but of some punk bands. Against the the inner wall was a vanity with makeup containers setting on it. going back to the walk way Troy looked at the trail once more as it went in and out of these two rooms and then back to the master bedroom. As he began to proceed to the master room Troy put his machete mack in its place and held his pistol with both hands. Coming to the door he tried to listen through the door, pushing his metal mask against it, but heard nothing. Opening the door quickly he pointed his gun and looked in to the room trying to see if anything was moving, but instead found what looked like an empty room. going in he saw that the trail of blood lead to the closet, but it was now much more apparent that whoever this was, the wound was getting worse. Troy had fallen fully into silent killer mode, as he normally did in these situation, and moved in on the closet. opening the door slowly he came upon a sombering scene. There in the back of the closet lay the body of a man with multiple gunshot wounds to through his chest, and a cuts on his legs. holstering his pistol, Troy knelt next to the man and noticed that he was laying on something. rolling him over he saw that he was laying on the girl who had probably belonged in the room down the hall. Troy looked at them both and saw that neither of them had visible signs of infection, and it clicked almost instantly. This man was trying to… looking at the girl he saw that there was a gunshot wound in her lower jaw going up. looking to the man Troy was filled with rage and grabbed him by the throat as he drug him into the master room. “You want to take advantage of a girl like that, in a time like this!?” he yelled at the dead body. Pulling out his machete he reared back and hacked deep into the the man’s chest twice before picking him up again and heaving him out of the window into the back yard. standing at the window Troy watched with psychotic satisfaction as the man landed on his shoulder with a thud and lay in an unnatural position in the grass. then going back to the bad he pulled of the covers and went into the closet where he picked up the girl, no older than 19, and lay her on the bed. He straightened out her clothes and folded her arms to lay her hands on her chest, and covered he with the thin top sheet from the blankets. standing there he looked on not in sadness nor in pain, but with honor for the sanctity of life. Troy had moved on to search the house for supplies in the house, but not before sealing the master bedroom off with some tools he found the garage. there wasn’t a lot to be had other than a few bottles of water, which he drank, and a bag of chips. returning to the living room Troy closed the front door and sat in a chair positioned so he could see the entryway. the couch was propped up blocking the front window and the coffee table in front of that. Troy opened the removed his mask and pulled his medical mouth mask down as he opened the chips and ate, but it wasn’t too long after this that he heard something; *BANG BANG BANG* gun fire, and from a small arms weapon. “So there is still some life in this place after all. Then a few minutes later he could hear the faint noise of a siren. “This place is hoppin’ “ He laughed to himself as he dropped the chips put his masks back on and waited for more noise before he headed out.
