__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The term "Manifest Destiny" was first coined and extremely prevalent in the 1840s on the American plateau. It expressed the belief that it was Anglo-Saxon Americans’ providential mission to expand their civilization and institutions across the breadth of North America. This expansion would involve not merely territorial aggrandizement but the progress of liberty and individual economic opportunity as well. The American's believed it was god's sacred plan for them; that they were a god send destined to rule the entire land. It was, O’Sullivan claimed, ‘our manifest destiny to overspread the continent allotted by Providence for the free development of our yearly multiplying millions.’ By the end of the century, expansionists were employing quasi-Darwinist reasoning to argue that because its ‘Anglo-Saxon heritage’ made America supremely fit, it had become the nation’s ‘manifest destiny’ to extend its influence beyond its continental boundaries into the Pacific and Caribbean basins. This may have been the first time the Americans heard this term, but it would most certainly not be the last. The entire Asian-Middle Eastern Peninsula had suffered a complete and utter collapse in 1955. After oil was discovered in 1947 in the area, fighting broke among the nations, with territory disputes as a front to gain more oil farming land. These events started World War II, with world powers choosing sides. The fighting was centralized in the Middle East with generally three main forces fighting; Allies, Axis, and the Nazi party. The Axis consisted of those who wished to annex the entire region and turn into an oil-mongering superpower: Turkey, Yemen, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, Iran, Jordan, Lebanon, and Iraq. Each country was in the Axis forces for their own political or economical reasons, but they strived for the same goal. The Axis movement was secretly backed by Norway and Finland, hoping that if they won they could get a cut of the oil. Then there was the Allies party; mostly Western countries attempting to intervene and "keep the peace." However, their ulterior motives were clear; everyone want a piece of the endless fountains of oil spilling out of the ground. The Allies' main powers were the United States, France, Britain, and the Chinese Republican Federation. Lastly, there was the Nazi party. The Nazi party consisted of Russia and Germany, and although they were not many, they were to be feared. They had invented a sort of a Power Armor that decreased a lot of incoming damage and could release high outputs of damage. They wished to instate Nazi rule in the area and set up colonies for territorial gain. Eventually, the dust settled on the war, and the extreme fighting, which had no clear victor, had the Asian-Middle Eastern Peninsula a wasteland with no clear governments instated. However, it was a wasteland that was pumping with oil. The hunger for land was back, and the Asian-Middle Eastern Peninsula has yet to see all of the fighting.
IC INFO
- The following roleplay begins in April of 1956 - China is now split into two countries after a revolution: The Chinese Republican Federation and the Chinese Confederacy. - The world powers are considered to be the following nations: Germany, Japan, U.S.A., Russia, and Turkey. Although there is no UN in this version of history, those are the generally accepted world powers. - Every world power has an invention they made in an attempt and give them an advantage in war. They are as follows: | Germany: Extremely Defensive Power Armor | Russia: Power Armor -- More Mobile than German's, however not as much protection | Japan: Sumbarines | Turkey: Sniper Rifles -- although other countries have sniper rifles, Turkey is known for their Red Beret elite snipers who are capable of landing insane shots | U.S.A.: Coal Based "Tankers" If you are not a world power you can have something of the like, however run it by me and I will give the final answer as to whether or not it is viable or not. - This is an alternate history Earth. It's still Earth, just different things have happened. - The main plot is basically that after World War II, a large amount of land in the Middle East is open for the taking. Nations will rush to set up colonies and gain territory in the oil-rich lands, which may cause more war and violence ;)
OOC INFO
- You will be choosing from pre-existing Nations. This means there will be no "Goggrim States of the Mediterranean." - Although you may not make original countries, you can make the history of your country as you see fit just as long as it doesn't conflict with what I have established already. For instance you MAY make Canada have been a Spanish colony back in the day but you MAY NOT make Turkey a member of the Allies forces in World War II as that directly conflicts with my pre-established lore. - You may claim a nation if you wish while you are working on a Nation Sheet so all your work isn't wasted when you find out a France sheet has just been accepted after you spent X amount of hours making a France sheet. e.g. I, the GM, have already reserved Japan. - Battles (which most likely will happen) will be decided via three ways: either both players agree on the victor, dice rolls, or a GM decision. - Work with other people to set up your nation and the lore around this world. The best part about Nation RPs is that we can build the world however we see fit so don't be afraid to team up with someone to make some great lore. - This will be a casual roleplay. Rules
  • Please try to keep ganging up on a single player to a minimum unless absolutely necessary
  • My world is law
  • The usual jazz -- no metagaming, powerplaying, godmodding, and regular forum rules apply (no brainer)
  • Help each other out; Don't be mean or rude to fellow RPers as we're all in this together.
  • Do not be OOC in the IC. I've seen people do this sometimes in Free roleplays but I refuse to have that happen here. If you have something to say out of character, say it in the OOC thread.
  • As stated before, this is a casual roleplay. Please no one liners and at least attempt a paragraph.
  • Post your unapproved character sheet in the OOC. I will post all CSes my self in the CS tab.
  • Activity is a must. If you are not able to contribute one post per 1-2 days than please don't sign up for this RP. If you are going on an extended absence leave, please let us know and tie up loose ends IC-wise. We will decide together what approach we should take for your nation while you are gone
