The emergence of technology overshadowed magic, but this is a medieval fantasy RP, so to what extent did technology evolve? Steam-powered contraptions? Gunpowder?

Also, what's the power of magic in this world? I imagine it's mostly forgotten and kept secret, but if taken to its extreme, what could it do?
