Devika headed back toward the school building. She really didn't want to go, but what choice did she have?  Near one of the doors, she passed a group of students. Five steps later, she stopped short and did a double take. 

"...Nicholas?" Her eyes widened with obvious concern and she rushed over. "Nick, what- what happened?"
