In another universe lies another world, a mirror of our own in many ways, yet alien in so many others. This Other Earth contains many races from what our world holds to be myths and legends. Among these many races are the dracons, a group of dragon-people living on a desert continent in the middle of a vast ocean. Standing at least as tall as a human, a dracon has a snout, scaly skin, fangs, clawed limbs, a tail, two horns, and yet has no wings, unlike their true dragon cousins.
Living in the parched countryside and vast cities, the dracons have established a strict patriarchal hierarchy, most visible in the lives of their royalty and nobility. Far removed from the harsh realities of the outside world, these lucky few lead lives of comfort, but not equality. Headed by all-powerful family patriarchs, the rich dracon males take many wives as well as reserve time to have affairs on the side in some cases. Title to land and ownership passes down on the male side and only through legitimate marriages. Those born of affairs find themselves in a kind of limbo, with noble blood in their veins but no title, a sort of "un-noble".
As such, they are allowed to live with their family, but have no rights to the family land or property, and are often looked down on by their legitimate siblings. Even as adults, they are allowed to stay, but are expected not to interfere with the doings of their "proper" half-brothers. Often, such illegitimate offspring from different families form friendships, forge alliances, or even have affairs themselves...
We'd play as some of these "un-noble" characters. I can explain more details about the dracons if you need me to (and you will need me to!).
