Desmond nodded in response to April's answer, understanding her reasons. As she started walking, he followed, figuring this would be an interesting to witness. He was, however, surprised as they exited the School, only to see the crowd that obviously yelled that it was the Gym. He was confused on how he missed it, but figured it just meant he needed to be more aware next time. "I have no idea." He responded, shrugging at the sight. He began trying to follow her as she made her way through the crowd, occasionally losing sight of her. Thankfully for the most part her path managed to be his own, though he occasionally had to request for others to move, a number of apologies coming from him as he tried to reach the front. Once he managed to push through, he was taken by surprise by what was happening; There wasn't two people battling, but four. Desmond found this strange, considering Grant always battled solo, and began assuming there was something wrong. He was about to ask April about it, but saw the look on her face and became silent, looking to where she was. _'Is that her father?'_ He wondered, noticing the injuries on the man's Ninetails. It wasn't in good shape, and didn't look like it should still be going. A large amount of concern crossed his mind as he shifted his view back and forth from April and the battle. --- **"And here I thought this would at least be somewhat of a challenge... I always get the boring jobs."** The Grunt spoke with some disappointment, seeming to see the approaching Ninetails to be a pathetic display. What did this breeder intend to do with such a beaten Pokemon, get it killed? He'd be happy to help the man with that, if he was going to get in the way. **"Bergmite!"** The Grunt called, staring at the Ninetails. **"Take Down!"** The Grunt's command caught the Bergmite's attention, as it was staring at Nina coldly. It wasn't in the best condition against the evolved fire-type after exchanging a few hits, but wasn't planning on backing down. It let out a small cry as it charged forward, though it didn't move as fast as Rick's Ninetails. The Grunt was more concerned about his superior... And the little runt Pokemon she used. Her display was embarrassing, but he figured saying anything would just get him in more trouble than he needed, so he focused on his own part of the fight. --- **"Icebeam?!"** Viola was taken by surprise when she heard this, glancing up at her Vivillon which was focused on the Cubchoo after the callout. Did it really have such a move? It seemed so incompetent up to this point that Viola assumed she was bluffing. While this was a chance to strike, she was feeling terrible about attacking the poor Cubchoo. It didn't seem to really want to be in it's current position, but it was stuck in the battle anyhow. At the same time, the situation required Viola to win. She couldn't allow this woman to take her Pokemon, and couldn't risk this Cubchoo possibly using Icebeam as Vivillon was weak against it. She knew she needed to take action quickly, before she was put in a dangerous situation. **"Alright, Vivillon! Use Energy Ball!"** Vivillon let out a loud cry as confirmation concerning Viola's command, it's wings fully open as a light-green ball of energy formed in front of it's mouth, only to be fired off towards the Cubchoo moments later. --- Desmond, at this point, couldn't even speak. He was confused, excited, and somewhat fearful all at the same time. His eyes locked onto both sides and he observed them carefully, as he was unsure of where this was going. He occasionally glanced back at April to make sure she was alright, but wasn't certain if she was okay on the inside. He wasn't even certain of how he himself felt about this.

Rick and Grunt His eyes narrowed as he heard the command from the other trainer. **"Nina, dodge left and Attack A!"** He called out to her, his voice loud and clear despite the shaking in his hands. Nina nodded very shallowly and bolted for the left, darting around the Bergmite with relative ease. As she did so, she jumped up and over the Bergmite from it's left side, releasing a torrent of flames on it's back from her mouth. Rick let out a sigh of relief and called out once again, **"Good job! Formation B, now!"** As he did so, Nina seemed to read his mind, stepping on the pokemon's back as she bolted back towards Rick. She skidded to a stop, kicking up dust around them as she turned and took a defensive stance in front of Rick. The dust billowed and floated in the other pokemon's direction. --- Caroline and Viola Cubchoo sent a hateful glance at Caroline and then looked back at Vivillion. He huffed a bit and turned his head again. Because of this, April suddenly came into his view. But before he could run over to her, he felt the energy ball hit his side. It knocked him down, causing him to slide a ways away. The crowd moved back a bit, giving the little guy some room, however he didn't seem to be getting up. **"No!! Dammit!"** Carolina cried out, stomping the ground with her foot. Without returning the pokemon to his ball, she pulled out another and threw it out there. **"Get her, Lapras!"** She called out, clearly getting angry. The blue sea pokemon let out a roar as he was released from his pokeball. **"Use water pulse!"** She called out and returned to her usual act of spinning. The young Lapras nodded and took aim at the defending pokemon, releasing a strange sound it's way. --- April Relaxing a bit after watching her father and Nina a bit, she realized what he was up to. However, a loud crash to the right of her cause her to jump and turn her head. Surrounded by a crowd of people was a small defeated Cubchoo laying on the ground. Her eyes widening, she rushed over to it and began ruffling through her bag for supplies to revive it. She spent the next few minutes checking it over, putting medicine where it needed to be. She still hadn't even looked at the fight Viola was undertaking.

**Rick and Grunt** Confused by the sudden command, the Grunt was taken by surprise by the Ninetails' attack, simply staring. **"Damn...! Where did this come from?"** He questioned, watching the sight of his Bergmite flailing about due to the flames. It wasn't long after that his opponent simply used Bergmite as a stepping stone and made it's way back to it's trainer, only to kick up dust in their direction. He was slightly irritated now. **"Get your act together, Bergmite!"** He yelled, though the Pokemon was in a panic due to the flames. Quickly, Bergmite jumped and flipped over in mid-air, the flames still melting it's back as it landed on it's tip on the ground. It cried out as it's ice dripped onto the ground, before beginning to use Rapid Spin. The tip of his iceberg shell dug into the earth like a drill, causing the Grunt to get angry. **"W-What the hell are you doing?! Stop!"** Bergmite didn't listen, and kept going. Even more dust kicked up as he spun about, until finally, under it all, he was stuck in the ground. Not that anyone could see it until after the dust began to clear. --- **Caroline and Viola** **"..."** Viola, even if she knew it had to be fought, still felt bad after hitting the poor Cubchoo. Vivillon wasn't acting much different, also finding the poor thing to not be wanting to fight at all. Though neither had time to ponder on it, as Ms. Spin-A-Lot threw out another Pokemon faster than expected, and ordered it to fire off a Water Pulse attack. Before Viola could even attempt to command Vivillon to dodge, the attack connected. Causing her to cry out as the sound rang in her head, disrupting her flight. She began slowly descending as she wasn't able to keep in flight, but thankfully she wasn't plummeting strait down. **"Vivillon! Are you alright?!"** Viola called out to her Pokemon, but it simply shook around and cried out as it continued getting lower and lower to the ground, turning into nothing but a slow-moving target. Viola frowned, the situation seeming dark. **"She's confused...! That Water Pulse was more effective than I figured it would be..."** She muttered to herself, watching on with a worried expression. --- **Desmond** Desmond watched April's Father with amazement; He had thought the two were in danger, but they make sure a quick turnabout that he hardly was able to realize what had happened. He was impressed beyond any of his expectations, but had to shift his eyes to Viola's battle as the dust kicked up from the Bergmite's Rapid Spin, and was met with a soul-crushing sight. "Did she just ignore her own Pokemon?" Desmond asked himself, eyes narrowing at the stomping mad woman as she sent out her Lapras and kept fighting. He hated people like that; Inconsiderate, uncaring... He shook his head, rushing over to April to ensure the Cubchoo was alright. He slowed down as he approached, seeing her taking care of the poor thing. A small smile crossed his face as he watched, feeling a warmth in his heart as he witnessed her taking care of the poor, downed Pokemon. This was interrupted by the sound of Vivillon's cries, which made Desmond look back over at the battle. He swallowed hard at the sight of the slowly descending bug type. "That's not good," He commented, concerned about what was going to happen.

**Rick and Grunt** Rick and Nina stayed their ground as they waited patiently for the dust to clear. Rick would have given the command, but he wanted to see what had happened. The Grunt's gave him an idea of what was happening. The poor thing was scared to death and trying it's best to quell the flames on it's back which happened sooner than it probably expected due to the water being let off. Still, he watched, his eyes trained on where he thought the pokemon was, Nina doing the same. --- **Caroline and Viola** **"Hah!"** Caroline called out, a wide smirk on her face. **"Go, my lovely pokemon! Use Tackle!"** She called out again, grinning from ear to ear as she watched her Lapras rush at the confused Vivillion. --- **April and Desmond** Satisfied with her treatment of the pokemon and that he would make it, April turned to look up at Desmond and then to the battle at hand. A smile came across her face as she looked back up at Desmond. **"I believe in Viola. She can do this. Vivillion is strong too."** She told him, turning when she heard the call the ice woman had made. Her eyes were trained on Vivillion, every part of her body wishing the butterfly pokemon would snap out of it soon...

**Rick and Grunt** As the dust cleared, it was easy to see that Bergmite was stuck in the ground. It wiggled about, unable to get free and was too wedged in to start spinning again. The sight was sad, and with no real way of escape, he was an easy target. the Grunt stood there and sighed. **"Damn, you aren't getting out of there, are ya?"** The Grunt questioned, seeming to be a little amused by Bergmite's stupidity. It simply let out a drawn-out cry, apologizing while also being somewhat embarrassed. **"Idiot."** The Grunt grumbled, pulling out Bergmite's Pokeball. He was quick to return the Pokemon, but had no intentions of sending it back out. He heard some cheers from the crowd and simply shrugged at the praise Rick was getting. **"You won against me, but my boss is going to pummel your Gym Leader into the ground."** He planned on leaving, but figured it'd be best to observe what his superior was doing, giving she had an actual Pokemon out now. --- **Caroline and Viola** **"Vivillon! Snap out of it!"** Viola shouted towards her Pokemon, as it continued to squirm and not know what to do. At this point it was on the ground, wings twitching as it hopelessly laid there. As the call for the Tackle attack came, and the Lapras approached, Viola figured it was over, and didn't want her companion trampled. It was a loss, and as she reached for her Pokeball, she accepted it. At least, until she heard a small cry from Vivillon. **"Vivillon?"** Viola seemed surprised by the small sound, and her eyes widened as the bug Pokemon lifted herself up with her wings, leaving her to glare at the approaching Lapras, her eyes glowing blue. Caroline's Lapras began becoming outlined in a light-blue color, as Vivillon attempted to use Psychic to throw the Pokemon back towards it's side of the field through telekinetic force. Viola smirked. **"Picture perfect, Vivillon! Send that Lapras and her trainer strait out of frame!"** She yelled, feeling foolish for almost throwing in the towel on her friend. And confident that she could fight the Lapras back. --- **Desmond** "W-Woah..." Desmond stared, unsure of what to say. It managed to snap out of confusion, and fight back against the Lapras before the tackle connected! Desmond wondered to himself just how he could win against Pokemon with such resolve? There had to be a way, but as of now, he was unsure of exactly what kind of strategy he'd need to stop that powerful, determined Vivillon. He looked back at April, seeing the smile on her face. He couldn't help but keep a smile himself.

**Rick and Grunt** Letting out a soft sigh, Rick smiled down at Nina and called her over to him. She limped over, having lost the will to pretend she was fine any longer. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her neck into his arms, hugging her tightly. She let out a small whimper and he let go, smiling softly. Pulling out his bag, he began bandaging her up, ignoring the event around him for the time being. --- **Caroline and Viola** **"No, no, no!"** Caroline called out as Lapras came hurling back towards her. A loud huff could be heard from her as the large blue sea pokemon crashed into her, sending her flying into the wall of a nearby building. **"GET OFF OF ME!"** She screamed, squirming under the weight of her knocked out pokemon. --- **April and Desmond** **"YES! GO VIVILLION!"** April shouted and threw her hands up in the air in excitement. A wide smile was glued to her face as she watched the two, trainer and pokemon. She glanced over in time to see her dad hugging Nina after their win, the smile unfading. She turned back to face the cubchoo when she heard a small sound coming from below her. The cubchoo was looking at her with tears in it's eyes. Suddenly and without warning, the small ice bear pokemon jumped up, making a ruckus and running circles around April. **"Uh... What? This... is weird."** She blinked, watching the pokemon run circles around her. As it did so, a soft glow began to emit from him as he changed forms. Soon, a large beartic was standing before her, it's arms encircling her in a hug. **"D-Did it just e-evolve?"** She asked, wide eyed. **"And why is he... hugging me?"**

**Viola** As Vivillon managed to knock out Lapras, cheers came from the crowd all around, celebrating the victory. Viola ran up to her Vivillon and crouched down, the bug Pokemon looking her way as it lowered it's body onto the ground to take the pressure off it's wings. Viola couldn't help but laugh, the situation being both amazing and terrifying. **"You cut it a little close that time."** She said, her laughing continuing. Vivillon just sighed, having been terrified of getting ran over in the first place and was currently trying to enjoy the relief of not being trampled by a Lapras. Viola soon stood, pulling out Vivillon's Pokeball. **"Return for now, Vivillon. Get some rest."** She spoke softly, and a small cry of agreement was all that came from Vivillon in response. After returning Vivillon, Viola put a hand on her hip and stared over at the sad sight of Caroline being squished by her Lapras, with only the Grunt trying to help. Sighing, she walked over to Rick and figured for the moment they weren't going anywhere. She simply smiled at the man and Nina, happy that the battle was over. **"Sorry I didn't finish it sooner. You two alright?"** She asked, concerned about Nina's bandages, and the wounds underneath. --- **Desmond** Desmond crossed his arms, thinking to himself as the crowd cheered for Viola. He was excited too, but he had things to think hard about considering that Gym Leader. It was a mistake thinking that she'd be weaker than Grant; But he felt that was a good thing. He needed to overcome these hurdles if he wanted to be strong, and he wouldn't be able to do it unless he put everything he had into it. He was somewhat tense, but also extremely excited for his chance to battle against her. That'd have to wait, though... Hearing April, Desmond looked down at the Cubchoo, noticing what it was doing. Before he could speak, however, it began to glow softly. His eyes widened as it suddenly evolved into a Beartic, and began hugging April. Desmond simply laughed as she questioned it. **"I think it's taken a liking to you, since you were so kind to it, unlike that woman."** He said, figuring it to be the honest truth. He stared at the Beartic curiously, thinking about his sudden change. **"He must have been holding back this evolution from her so she wouldn't have access to his full potential. Yet he's pretty open with you."** He said, smiling softly and enjoying the cute sight.

Rick and Nina "She'll be fine." Rick responded to Viola, not looking up from Nina's bandages. Once he was satisfied, he pulled himself up and made sure Nina could get herself up before looking over at his daughter whom he'd seen out of the corner of his eye. "Seems April's come back." He told his colleague, chuckling. Rick was a rather tall man, towering over Viola quite easily as he stood next to her. He had on square rimmed spectacles that rested at the bridge of his nose and rather plan looking clothes to match. His hair was a dirty blonde that fell haphazardly into his face, sitting lazily on the surface his glasses. Behind the glasses, bright blue eyes stared out, scanning the area for his daughter and the pokemon that had evolved as well. April "A-A liking?" She stammered, out of breath as the huge bear pokemon squeezed the life out of her. She physically felt the heat leaving her body. "And open is an understatement." She added as the pokemon released her, only to sit and stare at her. "Ahm... Not... Really sure what to do with you..." She spoke, a furrow forming between her brows. "Let him join you." Her father, Rick, responded from behind her setting and gentle hand on her head, ruffling her hair. He looked up and smiled at the beartic and then to the boy who had been speaking with her. "You're unfamiliar. A trainer up for challenging the gym?" He asked, grinning from ear to ear.
By now, Caroline had been helped up by her grunt and the two were running away, presumably to tell their boss what had happened, or not. Either way, Caroline was sure to get an ear full from Lusha.

Viola "That she has. I wonder why?" Viola questioned curiously, going over to April as Rick did. She simply watched from behind Rick, though. Eyeing the Beartic and listening to Rick as he spoke to his daughter. She couldn't help but chuckle at the sight of the big Beartic, seeming to think of April as a friend. It was adorable, to say the least. She perked up as Rick spoke to the boy that had been conversing with April, since he mentioned a Gym challenge. She peeked around him and eyed the boy curiously. 'Looks like he could be a tough contender...' She thought to herself, the thought of an actual Gym battle being exciting considering her Pokemon wouldn't be on the line. Differing from the whole situation that had happened only minutes before. Desmond "E-Eh?" Desmond blinked as he was spoken to, taking a moment to answer the man's question. "Well, yes. I am. Though I can see this is a bad time, considering a battle just happened." He said, not feeling like a battle right now would test him to the fullest, he didn't want to partake in one. He'd much rather wait and make sure Viola's Pokemon were fully rested. "Well, heh. Yeah." Viola mumbled, walking around Rick and standing beside him. "They were unexpected trouble, for sure. Vivillon will need some rest." She seemed a little disappointed at the fact she couldn't battle the boy at full-strength right now, but was still happy to know it wouldn't be long before she could take his challenge. "I understand," Desmond replied, nodding. "How long will it take for your Pokemon to recover?" He asked, before being met with a quick response. "Well, she didn't really get injured, she's just tired." Viola responded, smiling. "We'll be ready to go first thing tomorrow, for sure. That isn't an inconvenience, is it?" "Not at all." Desmond said, shaking his head. "Nice!" Viola said, some excitement in her voice. "I'll be waiting for you, then. I can already feel that'll be a battle to remember." After her moment of excitement, she calmed down somewhat and looked at April, keeping her smile. "So what brought you back, April?" She asked, simply seeming curious. She was certain that Rick was as well.

April She watched the two talk with one another about his upcoming battle with Viola and she couldn't help but have a bright smile on her face. She'd already beaten Viola years ago, not that she remembered it. Viola's badge was the only one she had but she was always interested in watching a battle between Viola and another trainer. She blinked when suddenly the conversation was being directed at her. "W-What brought me back?" She asked, a blush forming at her cheeks. "Yes, I'd like to know why you're back as well. You've haven't been gone a few hours, why are you back so soon? Did something happen?" Rick asked, tilting his head at his daughter and then at Desmond. "W-Well... I uh... I meet Desmond here and decided to help him out by coming back with him and introducing him to you all! Besides, isn't it better to travel with someone?" She asked, smiling awkwardly. She did not want her father or Viola to know that she'd left without adequate supplies, they'd nag her to no end. "Oh? You'll be traveling with my daughter! Well, good luck. She's a hand full!" Rick told Desmond, putting a rather heavy hand on the boy's shoulder. "D-Dad!" April stuttered, her face turning an even brighter shade of red.

Desmond Desmond blinked, listening to the conversation. Especially once he ended up being brought into it, simply staring at April as she spoke. Mentioning the whole 'traveling' bit he still wasn't absolutely certain of yet. He noted her lack of mentioning supplies, and didn't mention it as she understood why she wouldn't want either of them to know that. She'd be fixing that error before leaving again, surely she'd be alright. His attention turned to Rick as he was spoken to directly, a nervous chuckle escaping him as Rick's hand fell on his shoulder. "Uh... N-Noted, sir." Desmond replied, trying to be polite. His eyes darted off in a different direction momentarily, catching Viola's attention as much as April's blushing did. "Hah, this is just too cute! Really wish I could get a picture of such a natural moment." Viola commented with a bit of laughter, seeming to jump on the embarrassment train without second thought, knocking Desmond into blush territory. "Wh-What's that supposed to mean...?" Desmond muttered to himself, considering the implications of such a comment in a small, momentary silence. Viola seemed amused by his silence, but didn't comment any further in that direction. "Well, I suppose if you're traveling together, than I'll be seeing you tomorrow as well, April?" She simply smiled at April, assuming they'd be on opposite sides of the field again tomorrow. That was fine, though. Because Desmond would need all the support he could get to win their Gym Battle. Viola couldn't simply go easy on him because he was her friend, after all!

April She blinked, watching the interactions between her father, Viola, and Desmond. She jumped a little bit when Viola asked if she would be seeing April as well. A soft smile grew on the small girl's face. "Of course." She answered, holding up her bag of medical supplies. She had his back though... she'd never had someone's back before. Should be interesting... She turned, looking for Hope, wondering where the pokemon had run off to. "None of you have seen Hope, right?" April asked, looking to her father and Viola. When they both nodded, she let out a soft sigh. "I need to go find her. No doubt she's into some trouble." She told them, shaking her head. It was also a very good excuse to get her and Desmond out of this situation. "You'll help me, right Desmond?" She asked, already pulling him with her. As they got farther away, April slowed down. "S-Sorry about that. I didn't mean to put you on the spot like that, honest. I... I hope you don't hate me..." April spoke finally, her voice small as they walked towards where April thought Hope might be, which was home.

Desmond "Huh?" Desmond looked at April as she mentioned him helping her find Hope. He was about to say yes, but didn't find the time to at that moment as she was already pulling him away. Nervously glancing back, he could just see smiles from Rick and Viola, which caused him to turn his head back to look strait ahead due to a slight uncomfortable feeling that there was something he had missed. Listening to April speak as they slowed down, he was surprised by her words. "Hate you?" His tone expressed his confusion, as he continued walking. Now more beside her, rather than being dragged. "I don't hate you. I've had a great time since we arrived!" He replied, offering a small smile. "You helped me a lot by getting me into one of Mr. Pike's classes, and that battle was amazing to watch. I haven't had a fun day like this in awhile, honestly." He explained briefly, appreciating her company more than she thought. He figured that if one day with her was this entertaining, traveling together would be a blast. His feelings about traveling with her began shifting in a positive direction, and he noted that tomorrow he had to win that battle against Viola, and head off back towards home with her to pay Grant another visit. His dad would probably be happy to see him back, too. Though Desmond could only wonder how he'd react to April. Thoughts of his father got interrupted as his stomach growled, causing him to looked downwards for a moment before looking back at April. "How about we go get something to eat after we find Hope?" He asked, almost forgetting about his food shortage due to the battle he had witnessed. Thankfully his stomach brought him to his senses in that regard.

"Hate you?" "I don't hate you. I've had a great time since we arrived!" He replied, offering a small smile. "You helped me a lot by getting me into one of Mr. Pike's classes, and that battle was amazing to watch. I haven't had a fun day like this in awhile, honestly." April swallowed, a small smile appearing on her lips. He didn't hate her... He'd had fun... She bit her lip, trying to quell the excitement rising up within her stomach. Then again, it might just be gas. "How about we go get something to eat after we find Hope?" She couldn't bring herself to speak for fear of saying something embarrassing so she simply nodded, smiling at him. She found that she was taking much smaller steps now. She had a rough idea of where Hope was. If she wasn't at home, she'd be at the fountain. As she walked up to the house, she grinned over at Desmond. "Welcome to la casa Stone." She told him, grinning from ear to ear as she walked up the steps to the entrance. As she entered, she looked around for a sign of Hope being there. April's house wasn't exactly huge, but it was a house rather than an apartment or something like it. The tan walls were covered in pictures of both pokemon and people, very few of them of April and some of them of her mother. The entry way was set up like a shop with a PC on one corner and a woman, one of dad's workers, standing at the counter, smiling at them. "April! What brings you back?" The woman asked. "It's... a long story. Have you seen Hope?" April replied with her own question. The woman simply smiled and nodded her head in the direction of the back. "Thanks." April finished, walking past the woman to the back. In the back was April and Rick's living area. The walls, like the entrance were covered in pictures but all of them were of the Stone family and their pokemon. Passing through the room, April absentmindedly patted the stuffed chatot on the piano to the right of the entrance. It was a tradition she and her father had started, a way that they silently told her mother that they were back home and safe. In the back of the room, straight across from where Desmond and April were, they could see the blue back of Hope sitting outside in the play pen with the other pokemon. Walking up to the sliding glass doors, April smiled. "She always did love the pokemon dad raised. Always the mother hen." April told Desmond, chuckling slightly. she lifted her hand and make a little rapt on the glass, causing Hope to turn and stare at her rather blankly. April raised a brow and opened the door. "Come on, spoil sport. It's time for food." April chided her, shaking her head. At the mention of food, Hope and the pokemon around her all turned their ears towards April and Desmond and ran over, tackling them. "Well... That was a bad idea..." April spoke nonchalantly, chuckling as a small togepi jumped on her stomach. She looked over to Desmond and smiled. "What kind of food do you want? There are a few restaurants but I could also just whip us all something up. I'll leave it up to you." She asked him, turning back to pat the togepi on the head. It's little cheeks turned pink with embarrassment and it nuzzled her side. The beartic from before had followed them silently, smiling softly. He looked around the room and then settled himself in one of the main chairs but he was way too big for it. But he curled up in it as if he thought he was still a chubchoo, distressed when he couldn't get into a good position. Another chuckle came from April as she watched him.

Desmond's smile became somewhat wider as she nodded, happy she thought it was a good idea. He soon focused on the path ahead, his eyes occasionally darting off to look at anything that caught his interest. Though it wasn't long before they ended up arriving at her home. He looked up at the building as they arrived, curiously observing the area. It looked nice on the outside, making Desmond curious to see the inside. Considering Rick was a breeder, there were probably a few Pokemon inside he'd never seen before. He was excited. "Nice place." He replied, follwoing her up the steps and inside. His eyes widened as they walked in, his attention turning to the pictures on the walls quickly. They really said a lot about this place, and the happy times that many people must have had here. He noted the PC in the corner, though didn't mess with it, as April spoke with a woman at the counter of the shop-like room they were in. She'd been asked that question a lot today. About why she was back... It was kind of funny. Thankfully the woman had seen Hope, and she wasn't far. He hesitated to follow, but a small nod from the woman at the counter encouraged him to keep going. After entering the back, he noticed it appeared much more like a home than the last room did. The pictures seemed more personal, he noticed April and Rick in some of the ones he glanced at. As well as a woman who he assumed must have been her mother. He was, although he didn't say anything, somewhat scared of the stuffed Chatot on the piano. Simply because in his experience with birds, he tended to get pecked. A lot. Shaking off the chills, he noticed Hope outside with other Pokemon, seeming to watch over them. He considered it cute, especially after what he heard April say about Hope loving the Pokemon Rick raised. It was sweet, and he couldn't really find anything to say about it that wouldn't have been corny. He watched as April caught Hope's attention, before opening the glass door and mentioning food in front of them all. Leading to a small hoard of Pokemon charging their way over, tackling them. "Woah, woah, woah!" Desmond reacted more than April did, seeming to momentarily panic before simply staring at the small Pokemon around him. Looking towards April as she asked what he wanted. "I'm fine with anything, really. As long as it isn't spicy." He replied, glancing back at the adorable, hungry Pokemon. "We should stay here. It'd be a shame to leave these little guys already." He innocently added, seeming to be enjoying all the little Pokemon. Some of which he hadn't even seen before. Hearing the Beartic, Desmond glanced back and noticed the sight of him trying to fit in a chair. The poor thing wasn't used to being so big yet, and he felt bad for him. Though he had to admit.... It was adorable. He never considered how much a Pokemon might have to adapt when it evolves... Some of them get a lot bigger. He had to admit something sudden like that would confuse him a little, too.

She chuckled at Desmond and nodded in reply. "I thought so too. I just hope Dad has something in the kitchen for me to fix..." She rambled, her head already in the kitchen. "My mother was a famous chef, you know!" She told Desmond, walking over to the kitchen, a trail of baby pokemon following her, dancing as if it were a game. "Penny Stone." She told him, joining the pokemon in their little dance, procuring small chuckle-like noises from the crowd. Smiling, she bent down and placed a gentle hand on the little Eevee who beamed at her as if he'd won the gold metal. Sifting through the pantry, she looked for something to cook with while waiting for Desmond reply. Cans of vegetables... She could make a stew...

While Desmond wasn't one to say it, he had a lot less knowledge about people than he did Pokemon. So when April said her mother was famous, he was quite honestly surprised. "Wow, really?" He responded, intrigued by the fact. It reminded him of how he and his father were terrible at cooking, and spent many a night with cups of instant noodles during their studies considering his mother was away. This memory, mixed with the little dance April was doing with the baby Pokemon, caused him to chuckle. "You're really close to these Pokemon, aren't you?" He asked, the happiness he was witnessing being exactly the kind of thing his father told him about. These little Pokemon were so innocent, and pure. He closely watched as they played, removing his backpack before digging into it. It was cluttered with notepads and pens, and a few items here and there. No food, though. He planned to fix that tomorrow. He pulled out one of the notepads, along with a pen, before setting the bag on the floor. His eyes darted between April, the Pokemon, and the notepad in his hand as he began taking a few notes.

"Yep! She had her own TV show and everything, the works!" April explained pridefully. She wasn't really one for crying and so she had no problems speaking about her mother. Besides, her mother would never forgive her if she couldn't at least do that much. "You're really close to these Pokemon, aren't you?" "W-Well, yeah... For some reason, I really... love it here. And the pokemon always seem to know who I am, even if I haven't ever seen them before. It's strange." She explained as she pulled out a big pot and set it out. She still had a pretty clear view of the living room from the kitchen and when she turned back around from getting some broth, she noticed Desmond with a notepad, writing something down. Placing the box on the counter, she walked over to him, curiosity winning her over. "What are you writing?" She asked. Some of the pokemon followed her and mimicked her movements, staring at Desmond and then at his pad, pretending to read it, others stayed in the kitchen, watching April with wide eyes, wanting desperately for food.

"What are you writing?" "I've never seen baby Pokemon before. It's a surprise to be able to see so many up close, and the way they act so innocent and friendly is note-worthy for my father's research." He explained briefly, bringing up his father's research on the emotions of Pokemon and their bonds with Trainers once more. He was certain his father had experience with them, but for Desmond, this was entirely new. A mix of opinion and assumed fact filled the piece of paper he wrote on, the quick writing looking slightly difficult to understand as he lowered the notepad. One day, he'd like to be able to see baby Pokemon out in the wild. He wondered if they acted the same, or if this friendliness was simply because they were around Rick and April from birth. He figured it was the latter, but the truth was unknown. "I try and find small tidbits that he might not know yet, to try and help with his research. It's one of the main reasons I chose to travel." He laughed, shaking his head. "I wanted to go out on my own, of course. I'm just as curious about Pokemon as he is. But I want to do a few things for myself, too." He smiled, looking at April. "Viola's the first step towards me being ready to do those things. I'll have to be strong if I want to be able to push through the challenges ahead, and I'll have to have strong bonds with my partners. I trust that my Pokemon can help me through whatever I face." Blinking, realizing he had started perhaps saying a little too much, simply looked down at the Pokemon below him with the same smile stuck on his face. A single thought crossed his mind as he put all of what he wanted to do into perspective. 'There's a very long road ahead. One I won't falter from, no matter what.'

"Never?" She asked, looking down at the togepi from before. She bit her lip, in thought. Were baby pokemon rare to see? Or maybe it was just the sheer number of them? Still... She didn't see the value in it that Desmond seemed to see. She just saw a bunch of cute pokemon with nothing but love for the humans around them. "You chose to travel for research? Heh... You're better than me!" April told him and stood up, ready to head back to the kitchen, the pokemon following shortly behind her. "I don't have a real purpose to travel. I mean... I guess I do, it's just hard to say..." She explained, smiling at him, hoping he wouldn't ask any questions. She didn't need pity right now. Unlike him, traveling presented a challenge, a wall that she needed to climb over and she wasn't going to let it beat her. She listened to Desmond speak, a soft smile on her face, as she prepared the stew. "I can agree with that." She answered in turn, chuckling. "If you can't trust your pokemon, what kind of trainer are you really?" She asked, an amused look on her face. As the broth for the stew warmed up and the meat cooked, April turned to get the poke treats, smiling when the pokemon raced over from whatever they were doing. Looking over at Desmond, she asked, "Want to give them some too?" She held up the small poke treats, grinning like a school girl.
