Eventually the sidebar will have more global information like the current contest, the latest contest winners, the latest RPGNews post, the latest feature release (so that people are aware of changes), your last 5 notifications, and anything else that's hidden away behind too many clicks.

Fun fun fun. Is there any plans to see a list of all the threads listed by size or age or something?

Can you explain? The next phase of the tag system is to introduce "View All Checks" and "View All Roleplays" views that let you filter the results.

Like an option on a page somewhere to sort either search queries (like I imagine with the tags or something) by the number of posts the thread has, its date, among other things. So if I wanted to see what thread has the most posts I might go to this list or search and sort the results in ascending or descending order.

My medium-term goal is to make the "View All Checks"/"View All Roleplays" topic lists awesome for searching, filtering, and sorting by any parameter you'd like. Once I figure that out, it's something I want to roll out to all topics in the forum.

You can now force a line-break in your user-title with \n. For example, my user-title right now is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯\n¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I noticed that some users' titles were auto-breaking in awkward places.

I'd like for GMs to be able to toggle the recruiting state of their roleplays to tell players which roleplays they can join. For example, the "Latest Roleplays" widget in the sidebar would be better if it showed only the latest roleplays that are open to new players. Would these be sufficient: - Full: Not currently accepting more players - Open (Jump in): Just begin posting IC - Open (Sign up): Must coordinate with GMs before posting IC (Read OOC rules for details)

We believe those would be quite sufficient,@Mahz.

This works for me. Having a look at the sidebar, and I understand that you'll probably be tinkering with it some more, but would the tags be better hidden unless you mouse over the area? It just looks a bit overpowering when you see so many tags, especially when in the future you may be adding an entry status.

you know, we realized one idea for entry tags that could be expanded... instead of just: Closed | Open (jump in) | Open (CS) we'd suggest this: Closed | Open (jump in) | Open (CS) | Open (3 slots) | Open (2 slots) | Open (1 slot) While one could possibly have more slot count things, it goes to say that if there's more than 1/2/3 slots open, you simply use the Open one. and as a bonus, the jump in mode can also use those slot counters if they make sense. oh, one more that could be added: Closed (request) - Its closed, but GM is willing to add character slots if your CS idea is good.

Love the sidebar. My personal preference is left align, but it's cool as is. EDIT: @Mahz I hope I'm not the only one who misses the horizontal line feature. I for one found that to be a very useful thing to have in separating sections of my posts.

A thought about the "latest" potion of the sidebar: I'd personally prefer it showing one-two from each category rather than a handful across the boards. So two latest in free, two latest in casual, two latest in advanced - otherwise the slower-posted forums won't be getting much limelight. (I'd also suggest melding NRP section back into Free/Advanced/Casual and making NRP a tag, but I doubt it is going to happen... Perhaps once we have tag-based filtering/search? Since in all honesty, I've been basically out of the NRP scene ever since it became its own thing, solely because it became its own thing and was no longer by tier.) I myself am partial to right-align for the sidebar - for a forum such as this, I'd prefer the actual forum-portion to be in the main focus when I visit the page (and left-aligned things tend to be the main focus for humans, at least those using our read-from-left-to-right text, as some research found out), and the sidebar be something I look at secondly when I am not doing something specific. Left-aligned sidebar would be a bit too obtrusive for me for a forum (if we were a Wiki, where'd you'd foremost access things by category/article, then things'd be different; in forum, the subforums are the main "categories" I'm interested in, not the individual RPs). In regards to Open/Closed tags: I find Ellri's suggestion is a bit too much division. It'd become clutter. I'd say stick with: Closed | Jump in | Applications (Since "jump in" and "apply" already suggest that the RP is open. ..."Apply (CS)"? "Apply (NS)"? "Apply (sheet)"? Ehh, I assume people probably don't want applicants who don't bother to skim the OP after they see the RP is taking applications...) Edit: Horizontal lines are useful for posting multiple characters at once.

Looking at our list once more, we do agree it might be a bit lengthy. We like your list, Shienvien. Some GMs might want a way to indicate how many slots are left if they have restrictions on such, but we are open for other ideas on how to do that than the lengthy one we had. we're honestly not sure how many RPs outside arena and free will use the "jump in"-tag. We do disagree a bit with removing the NRP section, but only so long as the free/casual/advanced tags can be applied within it. Same goes for tabletop.

*Stalks Ellri* I would love to have a few tags relating to whether or not an RP is open or not. Open | Closed | Looking | Closing With the last two as little extra helpers. Would be nice to help a few people out and see "Oh, hey look, they need some help!" or if they're closing, "Quick! Jump in before it's too late!" sort of thing.

"Looking" as a tag would be somewhat ambiguous to me... More confusing than helpful.

Most of us on this thread agree that the tags are needed, but Ellri suggested some oyhers that could potentially clutter them.

Perhaps "Recruiting" would be better than "Looking".

Just promoting a good discussion is well worth a few non-perfect ideas.
