Try doing a more bent curve. Example: On the left is what you're doing right now. On the right is the recommended face shape. [img]http://i.imgur.com/Jwnq5pq.png[/img] In addition, for better heads, draw a circle and a line cutting across it, then draw the recommended curve starting from the far point on the side of the circle where a quarter of the character is facing. Continue drawing the rest of the facial features, remove the circle and the cutting line later when you're done.
