Naw, they're a swath of the different types of ideologies clashing in the college environment. There is some element to both sides that is lazy and disingenuous, but to be too hard on them isn't very rational, because everyone is at a different stage in life and they're all figuring out how to expand their understanding.

You do see some people who have perspectives that don't look like they'll change, but mostly you see people who don't want to be bothered by it and others who think it trumps everything else in importance. It's just the college environment I guess. 

Actually your post has helped me moved past being annoyed by what I perceive as sensationalism and onto being interested in observing it all play out.

I swear to god I act like some kind of anthropologist most of the time. lol
