Dragons are extinct, as are many many other beasts and creatures. Large monsters roam the lands, like yetis or whatever, but are practically not domesticable due to their violent nature. If you need a good reference, imagine the world of the Witcher where creepers are either savage or reclusive and independent. There are no pegasi, werewolves or vampires.

Terminal is working on a list of 'fantastical' critters as a side-project which I'll have a read through once he's done. I will post it in the OP then, to include these as 'canon'.
