Right after the teacher had walked in, class was in session. He made his normal introduction and stated that their test would be in a couple weeks, so Roland made sure that he was focused and wide awake as he prepared for what lessons was going to be learned. Once the teacher put the mathematical equations on the board, one by one he called on students to try a problem out in front of the class. Once a few did what was told and they took their seat, the teacher called the next name, yet one that was not familiar to Roland. The girl named Avery Jones stood up and made her way to the board, only to finish the problem in seconds and quickly made her way back to her seat as she was told. Surprisingly enough, the girl gave the correct answer and left a good impression, or a least to the teacher. Roland was pretty shocked himself, not only to her greatness in math but the fact that she didn’t seem to be recalled into his memory, so he assumed that she was a new student. When she took her seat, he turned around to look back at her as the other students quietly spoke to each other, then others decided it would be fun to throw crumpled up paper at her as well. But as it all happened, she acted as if she cared less and just shrugged all the negativity off like it was nothing to her. Just then after, a student behind Roland had given him a note that was folded up and had Steven’s name written on the front. Roland looked back at the teacher to make sure he didn’t notice and unfolded the piece of paper to see what it read inside. That was the girl from earlier, the one who I asked if you've seen before? After reading the note, Roland looked back at Steven and mouthed to him without making a sound with his voice with a reply of his message. “We will talk at lunch about it.” He then faced his attention back to the front of the classroom, trying to focus on what the teacher would discuss on the lesson but Roland’s mind wandered off of the subject and instead onto the thought of the new girl in class and how she solved that problem. It intrigued him enough to come to a conclusion of making friends and trying to get to know her…..maybe. After all, he wasn't the best in math, so she could maybe be of some help.
