It's mostly grounded in reality; on the ship, energy will be rationed because its primary source is from starlight. But as for weapons, you will have non-eutectic nano-blades, maybe a few varieties of [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Active_Denial_System]Active Denial Systems[/url] etc. (I have at least one more planned but it's a secret 'til it's needed.)
