Alduin will be approaching soon, so the plan will be that when he arrives, the group just hangs back and let's him raise Sahlokniir, as they have no hope in hell of fighting him now. Alduin flies off, and while Sahlokniir is getting his shit together, we attack him, and yadda yadda, you get the picture.
Because the big bad will be approaching soon, I'd recommend that you don't start anything big. Conversations and this sparring session will be enough.
