I've seen a lot of more interesting and varied characters since I've been roleplaying that don't fit that mold at all. I've seen lots of outgoing, sociable characters who are just as interesting and exciting to play alongside, if not more so. And far less repetitive and boring, too. 
Though, I realize your comment was meant as sarcasm, of course. 
Or at least, I hope so.
