Real Name: Abdul Al-Zahred Superhero Alias: Jinni, the Firemind Gender: Male Age: 18 Appearance: "I have foreseen your fate, written in flame." Power Set: With a host of psionic abilities and a superhuman intellect, Jinni is a force to be reckoned with. His psychic powers are formidable, as he is a strong telepath, proficient in telekinesis, a decent illusionist and a near-masterful pyrokinetic. Jinni's flames do not obey normal laws of physics, and may assume strange shapes, spread unnaturally, or burn upwind, upside-down, or even underwater. Assuming the fire is even real, and not merely illusory flames that burn as painfully as real ones. He can also summon the "cold fire," lightning, though he is far less comfortable with it. While not precise enough to be truly practical, Jinni can glimpse visions of events both past and future by meditating on a fire. This ability is more effective when something distinctly sacrificial is being burned. Jinni's mind is powerful enough to perform numerous highly complex calculations simultaneously, and is both a sponge and steel trap of information; a thorough mind-sweep can grant him the knowledge and memories of a person as though he had always had them. A tactic he uses against his enemies is to overwhelm their less powerful minds with the sheer amount of information in his possession; to the Firemind, there is no difference between knowledge and flame. Other Skills: Jinni has been studying the lost art of alchemy, and though he has yet to gain a practical grasp of the subject, he is still quite knowledgeable on the matter. He also possesses a great deal of knowledge regarding world history, religious scriptures, occult orders and lost civilizations. Something of an omniglot, Jinni speaks numerous languages, both alive and dead, and some that are believed not to originate from this world at all. While not much of a physical fighter, Jinni takes good care of his body, and is in excellent physical shape. Weaknesses: Jinni has a complete lack of ability to comprehend magic, and as such is almost completely defenseless against it. Psychic attacks that hinder his concentration are also a bane to him, though he has more practice in defending against such attacks. Jinni's pride is also a major weakness, as he considers himself to be powerful beyond reproach, and rarely accounts for failure in his plans. Personality: While polite and well-spoken, Jinni is prideful and vain, with an air of arrogance about him and a cruel streak. He firmly believes that his opinion is objectively correct, and sees little reason to explain himself to others. "Lesser minds" bore him terribly, and he finds entertainment in their torment. Despite his seemingly evil characteristics, Jinni is not an inherently bad person, and wants what is best for the world at large. That is, what he believes is best for the world. Backstory: The man that would come to be known as Jinni, the Firemind, was originally an orphan baby, found in the streets of Sana'a, the capital of Yemen. Found by a mysterious man known to the world as the "Mad Prophet of the Sun," Abdul's psychic potential was detect in his infancy, and as such he was inducted into and raised by an esoteric order known as the "Brotherhood of Holy Fire." Abdul was raised and educated among the other psychics and metahumans within the order, who trained him in their uses as soon as he could speak. It was their intention to raise the boy into a living weapon, to be used against the superhumans of the west, who forced their ideals on the peoples of the Middle East. Through his youth Abdul traveled far and wide, from Tripoli to Kabul, and learned from the many men in leagues with the secret Brotherhood. Though he considered them to be his family, he questioned their motives, as he could hear their secret-most thoughts, and could never quite be successfully brainwashed by them. In time, however, the Esper Program was brought down, and soon after, the Brotherhood, which had been founded by splinter members of the research team that later formed the Esper Program. Abdul was brought into the Herculean Academy and had his dangerous extremism scrubbed from his psyche, but his desire to shape the world into a utopia of his own design (willing or otherwise) remained.
