Evangeline woke up a few hours later to find herself in an unfamiliar bed. She opened her eyes. She lay in this bed in a candlelit room, and she could hear the warm crackling of a fire nearby. It took her a few moments to remember just what had happened to her. Suddenly, the princess brought her hand to her neck. It hurt. It felt like it had been bandaged, she could smell blood. It was on her hands, she could feel it in her hair. The last thing that Evangeline remembered was Elizabeth appearing in front of her and grabbing her by the throat. The princess could feel herself starting to panic. Her heart started to beat uncomfortably fast and she looked to the side of her bed to see Azrael sitting there. It was then that she started to calm down a little."I....I didn't die, did I?"she asked softly, one of her hands moving to her neck for a moment. It hurt to talk at the moment, so perhaps it would be better if she didn't say anything at all. Evangeline scooted across the bed and moved to wrap her arms around his shoulders. Thankfully he was very close by so she didn't have to stretch herself too far. "Thank you..."she whispered, burying her face into his shoulder comfortably. Evangeline was very lucky to be alive right now, and for that she was incredibly grateful. After a few long moments, she pulled away and stared into her companion's eyes. She hadn't expected Azrael to come to her rescue like he had. "W-what happened?" she managed to choke out, moving some of her hair from her pale face. "I don't remember anything." the princess turned her head a little to look out into the night. Snow was falling. It would have been nice to go out there if she hadn't been injured like this. Evangeline glanced back at Azrael and tilted her head to the side a little. She was looking a little worse for wear at the moment. Her neck was incredibly bruised and sore, her skin was paler than usual, if that was even possible. The dark-haired girl wondered what had gone on. Would he tell her the truth, or would he tell her a lie to spare her feelings?
