Name: Adrian Kaz Manuka Age: 20 Gender: Male Hometown: Celadon City, Kanto Appearance: Standing at roughly 5'9" tall, Adrian has pale skin, light brown hair, and green eyes. Physically, he's reasonably fit, having maintained a decent exercise schedule over the past year or so. He tends to dress in white or silver shirts, plain black pants, shoes suitable for travelling, and a simple white and blue jacket. The majority of Adrian's attire, while he downplays it as best he can, is rather well-tailored when properly examined. Adrian has a plain blue traveller's backpack, in which he keeps the majority of his possessions, and wears a secondary satchel to hold more commonly used items, such as Potions or spare Poké Balls. The satchel's strap has six catches fitted to it, designed to hold Poké Balls. Only one of these catches, the topmost one, is currently in use. He wears a blue Pokégear on his left wrist. Personality: Adrian is a calm and collected person in situations with which he's familiar: battling and socialising in particular are his preferred fields. When out of his comfort zone, however, he tends to turn quiet, and do a lot more thinking before he decides to act. He holds great respect for fellow Trainers and their Pokémon, but will almost always look down on those who mistreat their companions, be they human or Pokémon. When battling, Adrian tends to lose track of everything that isn't part of the battle itself. Instead, he tries to immerse himself in the match, taking in all the details in the interest of finding the right path to victory. Adrian isn't the biggest fan of the idea of taking on the Kanto League: ideally, he would have booked passage on a ship to another region to begin his journeys proper. But he was required to complete the Kanto League before travelling outside of the region, so he may as well start somewhere. Profession: Adrian has just become a beginner Trainer. Talents: Adrian knows his way around most of Kanto's cities, having travelled throughout most of the region with his brother. Other than that, he has a solid education on the subjects most students take up during their studies, ranging from basic and advanced Pokémon care to mathematics and several others besides. Inventory: Adrian carries the following items in his pack: - 14 Poké Balls - 1 Premier Ball - 1 Ultra Ball - 15 Potions - 5 Antidotes - 5 Paralyse Heals - Two cases of standard-fare Pokémon food - A journal and stationery - A pack of labels for Poké Balls - Debit card linked to a personal account containing $1500 - A week's worth of clothing and other personal items - A white and silver mp3 player with matching headphones Starter Pokémon: Magnus, a young Magnemite. Its moves are Tackle and Supersonic, and its ability is Sturdy.
Biography: Born into the rather wealthy Manuka family in Celadon City, Adrian was raised in a comfortable lifestyle. From an early age the youngest of three was schooled by some of the finest teachers that Kanto has to offer. It wasn't the most pampered childhood, but it was one that was better off than many. The Manuka family runs a highly profitable clothing business - 'Manuka Attire' - with connections to stores in several regions, including Sinnoh's Veilstone Department Store, Unova's Shopping Mall Nine, and the Snowbelle City Boutique in Kalos. Adrian and his older brother, Luke, tended to shun the family business, while their sister Irina - the eldest of the three by several years - practically threw herself into design and development of new pieces as soon as she was deemed ready by their parents. When Luke completed his education, a year ahead of Adrian achieving the same goal, he had a penchant for mechanics and engineering, and so immediately applied for work at Kanto's Power Plant. Whether he got his job there on his own talents, or whether his father had a hand in the proceedings - as he often did - Luke landed a position there. Before Luke started work at the Power Plant, however, he wished to take a tour of Kanto to see the sights before he moved into an apartment in Cerulean to live closer to his new job. Adrian jumped at the chance to get out of Celadon for a few weeks, and the brothers travelled Kanto's routes together. Luke showed off his battling skills, training up a Spearow and a Rhyhorn he'd caught along the way. When they reached Cerulean City, Luke sent Adrian home, their journey completed, with the promise that he'd write to the family, check in on everyone. So the youngest of the three returned to the Manuka residence in Celadon, rather uncertain of what he wanted to do with himself now that he had travelled a good portion of the region and seen what there was to offer. And while he threw himself into the last six months of his studies, he was discontent. Kanto was packed with Trainers and Pokémon alike, and the other regions that he'd studied in class were probably the same. He wanted to join them, not be stuck in boardrooms and offices all day like his parents and Irina. The day after he graduated from high school, Adrian posed the idea of becoming a Trainer and taking on a Pokémon League Challenge to his parents. He suggested that he could travel overseas, perhaps to Hoenn or Kalos, where he could explore an unfamiliar land and meet new people and Pokémon. It was clear by now that he had little interest in taking part in the Manuka family business, and for that reason, his parents agreed to his request. On the condition that he complete Kanto's Pokémon League before travelling outside of the region. Whether the requirement was a test to see if Adrian could handle himself independently, or a way to ensure that his parents knew where he was, Adrian didn't care. He was thrilled by this development. But a flaw remained in the plan. To be a Pokémon Trainer, you had to have a Pokémon with which to start, and Adrian didn't want to rely on a handout from his family. He began taking trips to visit the Day Care outside Cerulean City every few weeks to see if anyone had left an Egg behind, free to a good home. The folks in charge didn't have anything for him for several months, until one visit when they had a young Magnemite floating around after a client's breeding project, and set the Magnet Pokémon aside in hope that Adrian would ask about it. Adrian caught the Magnemite after a discussion with the Day Care staff, and named it Magnus. With his new companion in tow, he packed up his things soon afterwards and took the long walk past Cerulean City, Mt. Moon, Pewter and Veridian to reach Pallet Town, the starting point of every beginner Trainer in Kanto.
