The hammer was cracked in places from all using it on the various zombies, a clear sign he would have to get a new weapon soon. Heading down the hallway, towards the large double doors of the cafeteria when his leg bumped into a trashcan and knocked it over. The loud, metallic thud echoed down the hallways to break the silence and moments later Kenny would hear loud growls coming from end of the hall behind him. He turned his head to see a mass of them coming, likely attracted by the sound and cursed inwardly at himself before running the last stretch before skidding to a halt, nearly running into the door. A lock..a fucking lock! Of course there was a lock and with a big group of those rotting growlers. Gripping the hammer tightly with both hands and brought it down hard on the lock, which let out a loud clang, the metal shaking his hands. The impact hurting his fingers, but compared to what was coming from behind and smashed the hammer against the lock then again. It took two more before finally breaking it and the chain free and just in time as the zombies were more than halfway down the hallway now. The hammer was on hte verge of breaking at this point and saw no point to keeping it. With the growlers looming ever closer, he turned and threw it at the foremost to have it stumble back into those behind it. Doing so to stop and slow them down as he burst into the cafeteria to find it empty, luckily the door opened outward than inward so the zombies wouldn't be able to just open it, though with their numbers would eventually break it down. Knowing this as Kenny ran to the nearest table then dragged it over to flip it on its side and rammed ita gainst the door. He was panting by this point, but couldn't stop yet and moved to grab any garbage cans full with trash and set it against the wall to set a blockade. Slumping down at a table near the center of the cafeteria, grateful at the chance to catch his breath and looked around the large, empty room. Unable to help but think how eerie it was to see it so empty and quiet like this.
