One water-covered handshake later, R'lyeh talked about another name for me. My parents would have jumped at the opportunity, however, I wasn't exactly them, nor did I fully understand how or why this name of mine was supposedly cursed. On one hand, this could be a nickname for me, but, on the other, it would almost be like me calling him 'fish man' due to that just being the common name for my race. I eventually settled on "Um, sure, if you'd prefer that," I was going to say more, explaining what I was thinking earlier, but I thought it might be a little rude to him. The troll seemed to disappear again, that is, after a little episode with the bartender, which fared much better than my own, and ended with the troll getting another drink. I look around for him, and eventually just say in some random direction "Mister troll, sir? Would you mind telling us your name, also your location, I can't seem to find you again," R'lyeh then asked about the village's name, and I had to think back for that one. These villages did, indeed have names, but given the short time they have before they get destroyed again, these names weren't always easy to remember. I think back to when I first entered the village, and remember a sign with the name 'Birchvale, an obvious reference to the fact that the place was surrounded by trees. "The village's name is Birchvale. Sorry, it's not always easy remembering the names of these villages, they only last for about a week at a time," I then jokingly ask the bartender "So, how long has this place been around for?" He then responds with just the answer I didn't want, "about a week," shocked by that answer, I manage to ask "A-aren't you making preparations!? The humans could be here any minute!" The bartender shrugs, just as I hear someone, or something shout near the entrance "Filthy vermin! I have come to exterminate you for the good of humanity!" They're here... I... I can't do this, but, I can't run anymore, I'm done running. I then work up the courage to ask "Alright, I'm going to do something reckless, dumb, and probably lethal. I'm going to defend this village, who's with me?" The thugs seemed to disappear as soon as I asked that, and the bartender was already running in the opposite direction, leaving me with this group of four... R'lyeh, the troll (assuming he did run away), the rich ogre, and of course, myself.
