Basic Information Name:
Kayla
Nickname/Alias/Etc:
Witch, Sunshine, KK, Codename: Bartender
Gender:
Female
Age:
Sixteen
Height:
5’
Weight:
125 lbs
Type:
New Student
Appearance Hair Color:
Blonde
Eye Color:
Brown
Ethnicity:
Japanese-American
Physical Appearance:
The first word you would think of if you were to chance upon Kayla, would be small. Everything about her is tiny, from head to toe. She stands at 5 feet, and hasn’t grown much since twelve. Her body type is known as a rectangle, and she has a noticeable lack of breasts. She, as she was rudely informed many times by obnoxious people, looks like a child. Kayla is a little bit pale, as she spends a lot more time indoors than she does out. Nothing vampiric though. The only thing that really grows is her hair, which she is ever grateful for. Her hair is long, straight, and blonde, and goes down to her upper back if she lets it down. Most of the time, though, she has it tied back in a ponytail. Her bangs are straight-cut, and cover her forehead. Additionally, two long streaks of kayla’s favorite color, pastel pink, run through her hair, starting from behind her ears and continuing the length of her hair. The dye in them has yet to need to be replaced since several years ago when she applied it herself, but she has had to apply some to the roots when it became noticeable. She has been thinking of adding a copper streak as well, though she is undecided on it. Kayla’s face is ovular, with a tiny, girlish nose and rounded forehead. Her lips are thin, and look bad when makeup is applied to them. When parted, her mouth reveals a perfect set of straight teeth, helped significantly by having her braces removed a month ago. Her eyes are wide, brown, and ovular, but with the distinct slant to them that reveals her heritage. The skin of her face is beautiful, flawless, and smooth, lacking any sort of acne, scars, or similar blemishes. She has a tiny pair of star-shaped golden earrings.
Attire:
Kayla can be found in an ordinary skirt, sweater, and striped socks most of the time, all of varying colors. For formal occasions, she prefers a sundress and wide hat. She can also be found wearing a pointed witch’s hat occasionally, though nobody knows where she keeps it or why she chooses to wear it at seemingly random times.
Personality Innate & Outward Personality:
Outwardly, Kayla projects happiness, confidence, friendliness, and the air of someone who devotes their life to fun of both their own and that of others. She won’t hesitate to be friendly with anyone she meets, which has landed her in a tricky situation more than once before. Kayla is seen by nearly all of her friends(which is pretty much everyone she meets) as an excellent friend, one you can depend on and one that depends on you. Kayla can occasionally be whiney and stubborn if things aren’t going her way, something she often fails to hide. Inwardly, however, Kayla is a lot less sunshine and happiness, and a lot more normal, though sometimes even dark. Despite how recklessly she appears to befriend everyone in sight, she will try to keep from becoming too close to anyone she realizes she really shouldn’t. She still, however, tries to give people a chance. Kayla tends to get scared easily in the face of danger, something both her inward and outward self shares. Additionally, Kayla has a character flaw that nobody except someone closer than her parents would find, something so deeply hidden in layers of half-truths and her own sense of justice that even the fastest telepaths are unable to find. Kayla holds grudges against anyone who hurts or insults her or her closest friends, and she holds them for a long time. More importantly, however, she acts on them, always in the enemy’s moment of weakness. This can take the form of befriending them and abandoning them when they need her most, or tipping a Potion of Intoxicating Truth into someone’s drink and casually forcing them to reveal all of their secrets before a crowd. It can and has been many different ways, but one thing is always in common- Kayla will always, like any proper villain, let the one who wronged her know that it was her that inflicted pain upon them, and nobody else. This is where she gets the nickname only these people use for her, Witch.
Hobbies/Interests:
Kayla enjoys exploring natural areas, though she has a habit of getting lost and having to call in someone to find her. Kayla adores the old stories of witches and wizards, and sees herself as one. She also likes racing games and cheese.
Skills/Talents:
Kayla is an excellent public speaker, and a decent cook.
Prized Possession:
Kayla’s brown, battered, foldable witch’s hat is something she has kept dear to her heart since she was eight and found it in an attic. It contains three little pouches in the pointy bit where long, thin vials can be stored.
Quote(s):
”Good morning!”-Every time of day, not just morning, “Friends, friendly friends, and unfriendly friends! Let us all join together and have fun!”-Serving as announcer for her eighth grade year’s end of the year school festival, the year before she was sent to 218.
History/Bio:Note: I am garbage at histories. Please let me know if there are any issues with this.
Kayla was a lonely child. She grew up as the only child in a household of two businesspeople, both of whom were moderately wealthy, but exceedingly busy. While it could not be denied that both of them loved her very much, neither of them had the time to really be a proper parent and spend time with her, at least not often. Not only this, but they also made the decision to, instead of sending Kayla off to the, well, frankly absolutely awful(in their opinion) elementary schools, keep her at home, and teach her through a combination of homeschooling, virtual classrooms, and tutors. While this certainly kept her safe from the disgusting language and pedophile teachers of the public schools, it also prevented her from having any sort of interaction with fellow students. This was both a blessing and a curse, and as a result, Kayla grew up wishing for, but never having any interaction with, friends. When it came time for middle school, she got her wish... Kind of. She was, rather than sent to an ordinary public school, enrolled in a private all-girls middle school a ways away from home, in Northern California. It was, fortunately for her parent’s schedules, a boarding school, so she wasn’t able to see them for a lot of the year, something that was originally scary, but later she grew accustomed to. It was there that she met her first friends, and her first enemies. She was originally shy, but thanks to the help of a very friendly 7th grader, she eventually started reaching out to others. By the end of the year, she had gathered a little circle of friends that she could have fun with, and had adopted the optimistic attitude of her 7th grade friend, Anya. It was over the next summer that her powers manifested, in the form of wanting something that would make her hair turn pink without convincing her mom to let her(Saya was very much against unnatural hair color). When she did, a cold liquid squirted out of her thumb and hit her eyebrows, which became a pale pink color. After this, she experimented and experimented, but kept her abilities a secret from everyone but herself and her diary. She didn’t know how her parents would react to it, and frankly, she didn’t know how she suddenly gained the ability to make juice shoot out of her hands. The time came for her seventh year of learning to begin, and she was sent off to boarding school once again. Most of her little circle was there too, and they all shared stories of what happened over the summer. Surprisingly enough, Anya, the girl that had started it all, was apparently sent off to a different school, a special school for magic humans. Nobody was sure why, but they all missed her. Kayla, however, took it upon herself to continue Anya’s mission of spreading as much happiness in the world as she could. She made quite a few more friends this way, and eventually turned out quite popular by the end of the year. However, with all the love from popularity, so there was hate and jealousy. Kayla was attacked in a variety of ways every so often, ranging from pranks, bad rumors, and the betrayal of one of her friends. Every time someone hurt her, Kayla made a mental note of exactly who and what was done. Some of them she eventually got back at, some she did not. Kayla never forgave, and never forgot. It was the next summer that drastically changed Kayla’s life for the second time. While her family was on vacation at a lake in Southern California, Kayla and her father were standing on a tall bridge over the lake. They had wanted to try bungee jumping, with Kayla going first. However, her father had evidently done one of the knots wrong, because when she went to jump, the rope wrapped itself around- Kayla woke up a while later on the lake shore, with her father and paramedics tending to her. She had very nearly drowned, and it was only the intervention of a nearby wakeboarding party that saved her life. She was in the hospital for several weeks with a broken arm and several broken ribs afterwards. Since that time, Kayla has held an immense fear of heights and of drowning, enough to paralyze her if presented with either. Her next year at school went similarly to the one before, but now, Kayla held something different to her heart. A real love of life, rather than the imitation of another that she had been showing before. This brought with it real joy in bringing happiness to others, and similarly importantly, real hatred towards those that ruined other’s happiness for their own. Her punishments became stronger, crueler, more meaningful, enough to hospitalize one. A girl that had ruthlessly attacked a friend of Kayla’s for her voice the entire year; She took away that girl’s voice, permanently. It was the last and the most devastating punishment she gave, before the year ended. That summer, a third drastic change came about. Her parents found her old diary, and found out about her abilities. They were insulted that she had not trusted them with it, but overall they were supportive. However, with the end of Middle school and the need to find a high school, they took her new powers into mind, and eventually decided on Academy 218. Abilities Power Class:
Super-System?
Power:
Kayla can form liquid with her fingertips, though she prefers her right index finger. These liquids are potions, so to speak, of varying effects. The potions will have any effect she wants them to, so long as she focuses on them at the moment of their creation. These effects all depend on three things- The first is, what do they do? Example: A Potion of Green Hair would turn hair green. The second is, What do they do what they do to? Example: A Potion of Green Hair would specifically turn the hair on the head of a human being green. The third, How do they do what they do to what they do it to? Example: A Potion of Green Hair would turn the hair of a person green when they splash it on their head. The potions themselves are actually created with real compounds, be they known or unknown. Weirder or more complicated potions are very slow to create, as a significant portion of her brain is sucked up by an unconscious, autonomous process that tests thousands of different ideas in simulations. This means that she can actually go unconscious if she tries to make something really complex or potent, though the process will continue until it finds the correct formula and creates the requested amount of it. She is able to remember previously created formulas, and create them on a whim, however. New creations are the only ones with this issue.
Limits:
These effects are always grounded in reality, so there can be no potion of become president, potion of turn gravity inside out, potion of turning a cat into a toad, or potion of cure world hunger.[sub]yet[/sub] Additionally, the more potent a potion, the more of the green magic stuff it takes out of her. Likewise, the more of it she makes, the more dehydrated she becomes. This is especially true of lethal poisons, for some unknown reason. Anything short of nigh-ashing levels of usage would result in either a potion too weak to kill, or in too little amounts. Poisons must be ingested through the mouth or an IV, or they will be too complex to create and kill her before finishing.
Weaknesses/Drawbacks:
Kayla has a crippling fear of heights and of drowning. It is worth note that despite potions being able to cover many human weaknesses with enough planning, Her fear of heights and drowning are too strong to anesthetize. Kayla is not particularly strong, and won’t withstand a hit if someone really means to hurt her. All potions Kayla creates are highly flammable and dissolve quickly in water.
Other:
4202
Sample Post:

The crowd before her was silent, waiting. Kayla took a deep breath- She just had to remember to do this, just as she had planned. Kayla stepped onto the podium, and exhaled. “Friends, friendly friends, and unfriendly friends! Let us all join together and have fun!” She spoke into the microphone, trying to look as happy as she could. “Welcome to the Marvolo Academy’s End of the year festival! The campus is open to students, family, friends, and teachers alike!” She was speaking clearer now, more confidently. This was how it always was, she just had to warm up. “All of our classes have put up all sorts of attractions for everyone to enjoy, ranging from the Jamaican Haunted House,” she pointed to her left, where a fleshy arrow pointed towards one of the classrooms, “To the sausage-bobbing pool,” she pointed behind the crowd, where an inflatable pool surrounded by uniformed 7th graders stood, “To my class’ very own Romeo and Juliet play,” she gestured to the platform she was standing on, ”we have all sorts of activities for you to enjoy. Now, without further ado, let the festivities commence!” she finished, and bowed. Now, she was going to go down to the Snow Cone factory Rebecca’s class was working on, before they ran out. Wait, she almost forgot- “Oh, and the Romeo and Juliet play will begin at five-o-clock this evening. Please stay off of the stage in the meantime!” she hurriedly spoke into the microphone, face somewhat red. She wasn’t supposed to forget any of the lines, stupid. Especially not when she was already halfway down the steps. Oh well- That was the end of it until four, when she had to announce the obstacle course race. Kayla could see her friends waving from off to the side of the crowd, gesturing for her to join them. She looked back in the direction of the snow cones- Not too many people had noticed it yet, she still had time to maybe get over there with all of her friends. This was going to be a great festival.
