A pale, lanky youth of 16, Lenny is only recognizable in crowds for his bright red hair -- Other than that, he's very easy to miss. He slouches, smells like cigarettes, and hides most of his thin frame under layers of hoodies and baggy shirts. Underneath those layers of clothes, however, is a lithe and limber young man. He holds very little fat, and has a body fit for a gymnast or swimmer. His pubescent limbs seem awkwardly too long for his body with thin, narrow fingers and toes. His face is most noticeably affected by this overall thinness, with a jaw that pokes out visibly, accentuated by his pointed cheekbones and thin lips. He holds something of a delicate face, with a rosy nose and ears that seem perpetually red, despite his intensely vacant eyes. All in all, Lenny looks decidedly unimpressive for a teenage boy.
Attire:
Lenny spends most of his time indoors, has spent most of his life homeschooled, and spends most of his money on video games. As a result, his wardrobe is fairly basic. He owns clothes in sevens, assuring that he can be dressed for a week with as little time spent on laundry as possible. He owns seven pairs of the same jeans, seven t-shirts, seven collared shirts, seven hoodies, and so on. Most of them are in soft shades of navy, taupe, or maroon. Lenny does not dress to impress, he dresses because he has to.
Personality
Innate & Outward Personality: Lenny is a geek. He enjoys comic books, video games, anime, cartoons, and most other things you could find at a convention. Being homeschooled, Lenny has had little room to make friends with others, although not all of his loneliness is because of his isolation -- Lenny's lack of social skills do that well enough on their own. Lenny has a habit of blurting out his thoughts, fumbling through sentences, and saying the wrong things at the wrong time. This mixture of isolation and social awkwardness has made Lenny into a recluse of sorts, with an encyclopedic knowledge of The Hobbit, and no friends to speak of. Although a shy nerd, Lenny is no pushover. He is fully aware of the strength of his powers, but is a pacifist at heart. Although he avoids conflict whenever he can, he shares a competitive streak with his brother, and isn't one to turn down a challenge. Listening to his brother's opinions on humanity growing up, Lenny has formed a different opinion -- Although he believes humans and metahumans can peacefully coexist, he holds a great deal of pride for being a metahuman. Lenny's experiences growing up have thickened his skin a fair deal. From a psychological viewpoint, having to grow up so quickly has caused Lenny to crave the childhood he feels he missed out on, which he experiences through the countless fantasy-based movies, shows, graphic novels, and action figures he owns. Lenny may be a shy nerd, but he is also a proud, tough teenager from the inner-city.
Hobbies/Interests:
As mentioned, Lenny spends his time alone for the most part. He is an avid comic fan, reading everything from Golden-Age superhero comics, to gritty detective noir stories. His favorite genre is fantasy, or generally "Everything that has swords". He is a fan of Star-Trek, although he dislikes Star Wars. Aside from other geeky interests like shows and online roleplaying, he enjoys taking long bike rides through the city. Although his powers allow him a great capability for violence, he usually only uses his power for practical reasons, or more often, to amuse himself. He enjoys using his power to make lights and fires "dance".
Skills/Talents:
Lenny is a skilled mountain-biker, using his bike to traverse the city as well as the craggy forests and hills. Other than those that, Lenny is self-admittedly talentless, which he has few qualms with. He has high grades in all of his classes, and speaks basic Spanish.
Prized Possession:
Lenny places little value on physical things, having to make do with whatever he had growing up. However, with his bicycle being his key to the outside world, it would probably be his bike (Which is named Na'vi).
History/Bio:
Leonard Skynyrd Boggs was born at home, in a small apartment in Boston. His parents were blue collar metahumans from Georgia. His father, Harley Boggs, had thick green skin, while his mother, Rhiannon Boggs, was a telepath. Although fearful of Lenny's metahuman abilities that he had displayed since infancy, they registered him with NEST and were generally supportive. They died in a car accident shortly after his sixth birthday, leaving Lenny and his brother Creed in foster care. Luckily for the Boggs Brothers, this was short-lived. Lenny and Creed spent their short time in foster care with the Dulane family, including a mother, father, pet dog, and a foster brother, Pete. Hoping to see his first metahuman after a young Lenny explained "Creed changes if he gets mad", Pete made it his business to scare and tease Creed at every available opportunity, despite being warned not to many times by his parents. Eventually, he caused Creed to transform, but not without a cost. Creed went on to maul the Dulane family's dog, before turning his attention to Pete. Their new foster brother would live the ordeal, but not without being horribly disfigured, breaking several bones, losing most of an arm and an eye. After the incident, Lenny and Creed spent a short time living at a NEST base, before it was finally decided that custody of the boys would be given to their grandmother, who lived in Black Fall, Pennsylvania. With his grandmother a doddering old woman, most of Lenny's upbringing, or lack thereof, was from Creed. Creed shared his metahuman status with Lenny, although Creed's powers were much more volatile. It was for this reason that Creed and Lenny were both homeschooled, as their grandmother hoped to protect them from the outside world. While Lenny flourished in the online school setting, Creed unenrolled himself at 18, preferring to devote his time to a metahuman rights group in Black Fall. Their grandmother was eventually placed in hospice care, causing NEST to search for a new home for the boys. Rather than let the already dangerous Creed have guardianship over his potentially dangerous brother, NEST has placed the two at Academy 218 in the hopes of turning the two into productive citizens.
Family:
Brother - Creed Boggs Grandmother - Susan Boggs
Relationships
Creed Boggs | Mixed | Brother | "Creed’s alright if you get to know him, ‘cept for when he’s not.” | Harmon Rottlage | Good | Old Friend | "He's my best friend, and I'm glad to have him back." | Kayla Kirby | Good | Acquaintance | "She seems alright." |
Abilities Power Class:
Elemental
Power:
Lenny can absorb, redirect, and expel energy. This pertains to all types of energy, although Lenny sticks to mainly three: Kinetic, thermal, and electric. When absorbing energy, Lenny can either siphon it slowly from a distance, or more quickly with direct physical contact. When expelling it, the combination of whatever he's absorbed takes the form of a blue plasmoid, either as a blast, beam, or wave, dealing concussive force. Redirecting energy is a combination of both, absorbing through one arm and firing it from the other, making himself a conductor. This is usually reserved for large amounts of energy he can't safely absorb. Aside from this plasma energy, Lenny can also use the energy in its natural form. If he absorbs a large amount of electric energy, this can be used as an equal amount of kinetic energy, or an equal amount of heat energy, and so on. This allows Lenny to start fires, charge batteries, or simply jump further.
Limits:
The amount of energy Lenny can absorb is finite. Although he is unsure of what the set limit is, stopping a speeding train, putting out a house fire, or absorbing a power plant would all definitely kill him. Although he can absorb larger amounts of energy slowly, or redirect large amounts, quickly absorbing any large amount would either cause him to begin ashing, or simply cause him to explode. Secondly, Lenny's plasma bolts can injure him with the recoil they present. As he's only able to fire them from his hands, a beam too large, or from redirecting too much energy at once, could potentially break his arms, or blow them off entirely. Similarly, expelling large amounts of heat can burn him, and large amounts of electricity can shock him -- He is not completely immune to his absorbed energies.
Weaknesses/Drawbacks:
Lenny has never left the city, and has thus been surrounded by potential batteries his entire life. Being in a forest, cave, or any other natural environment would essentially take him away from all power sources but the sun, and even then, his solar absorption can easily be negated by putting him under a roof. If he was locked in a basement or closet with nothing to absorb, he would have to rely on his below-average strength to get out. Different types of energy can damage Lenny if he absorbs them too quickly. For example, if he quickly absorbs the energy of a bonfire, he would become severely dehydrated, and possibly burn his hands. Absorbing solar energy too quickly would give him hypersensitive skin, damaged vision, and lowered stamina. Quickly absorbing kinetic energy would topple him with severe vertigo, and quickly absorbing a large amount of electric energy would shock him, giving him nerve jolts, and possibly stop his heart altogether. Lastly, Lenny has no defense against physical attacks. While things like cars and trains retain enough kinetic energy to be absorbed and stopped, fists, swords, and other melee weapons do not. Lenny's energy absorption has a threshold of sorts, which stops him from being able to absorb body heat, the electricity in the ground, or the kinetic energy of a thrown punch. Although his ears stick out like his younger brother, he has a chiseled jaw, pouty lips, and eyes that seem to stare through others. He is tall, at an even six feet, and goes to the gym every other day. He shaves his hair once every three days. His skin isn't as pale as his younger brother, but far from tan. His face, while attractive, shows signs of violence. His left eyebrow has a scar dividing it where he had once been stabbed, which he hides with an eyebrow pencil. His nose, although fairly straight, is crooked in places it had been broken upon close inspection. These features, even though detrimental to most, have only helped Creed's "Bad Boy" image.
Attire:
Creed is a skinhead. Most of his clothes are black or grey, from his underwear to his jacket. The majority of his tops are t-shirts and polo shirts, whereas all of his bottoms are black slacks or jeans. Nothing he owns is too loose or too tight. As a member of The Immortals, he often wears their uniform of red suspenders coupled with combat boots. However, he has no problem wearing less suspicious clothes if need be. In cold weather he wears his Immortals jacket -- A black bomber jacket with their insignia, a large red skull, on the back.
Personality Innate & Outward Personality:
Creed is ill-mannered, aggressive, and cocky. His favorite genre of music is anything played loudly at night, and his favorite games are the ones he is sure to win. Creed is kind of an asshole. He enjoys picking on people weaker than himself, although his bullying is mostly teasing and flicks on the back of his head. While he isn’t especially violent or quick to anger, his off-putting nature earns him few friends. Underneath this exterior, he is fiercely loyal to the few friends he has, and craves their approval. His yearning for a tight-knit group and sense of solidarity was the driving force for him to join a gang, and stems from the combination of his loss of parents and hatred of humans. As mentioned, Creed hates humans. He believes his parents were not adequately cared for after their car crash because of their status as metahumans, amplified by living in a decidedly anti-metahuman neighborhood. He believes metahumans are the next stage of evolution, and that metahumans will eventually wipe out or subjugate humanity. Although he believes that there are some “Noble Humans”, for the most part his belief is that as a whole, humanity fears and destroys things they don’t know. His boisterousness and belief in metahuman superiority make most people instantly dislike him, although the few who look past this find a loyal friend in Creed.
Hobbies/Interests:
Creed is a simple man. Aside from frequently working out, he has few hobbies. He enjoys solving math problems, most sports, and playing pool. He enjoys reading, although most of the works he enjoys are written about the metahuman experience, as well as the works of radical metahuman supremacists. Occasionally, he’ll be found reading anti-metahuman writings and papers, believing that it’s important to know your enemy.
Skills/Talents:
Creed holds few talents but violence. Although he forgets all discipline and training after transforming, he is an adept boxer, having been taught by one of the higher-up Immortals. Besides boxing, however, the closest thing he has to a talent is his penchant for spitting very far.
Prized Possession:
Like his younger brother, Creed places very little value on physical things. His prized possession, if any, would be his Immortals jacket.
History/Bio:
Creedence Clearwater Boggs was born at home, in a small apartment in Boston. His parents were blue collar metahumans from Georgia. His father, Harley Boggs, had thick green skin, while his mother, Rhiannon Boggs, was a telepath. Creed had a fairly happy childhood, doing things most young boys did. He enjoyed swimming, playing with action figures, watching cartoons, and generally, being a boy. However, his childhood was not without upsets. Creed’s neighbors were strongly against metahuman rights, going as far as to frequently vandalize his family car, spraypainting the door to their apartment with slurs, and generally antagonizing the family whenever possible. When Creed was 11, his parents died shortly after a car crash. Creed believes that they could have been saved, but received sub-par care because of their status as metahumans. Shortly after this incident, Creed and Lenny were sent to live in foster care. The brothers spent their short time in foster care with the Dulane family, including a mother, father, pet dog, and a foster brother, Pete. After the incident, Creed and Lenny spent a short time living at a NEST base, before it was finally decided that custody of the boys would be given to their grandmother, who lived in Black Fall, Pennsylvania. With his grandmother a doddering old woman, Creed grew up with little supervision. His belief in metahuman superiority was fueled after discovering “The Immortals”, a gang of metahumans in Black Fall, who shared the same ideas. He devoted all of his time to The Immortals, going as far as to drop out of school. The Immortals were responsible for Creed earning his second NEST strike, coaxing him to attack and hospitalize the son of a senator with strongly anti-metahuman beliefs as part of his initiation. Their grandmother was eventually placed in hospice care, causing NEST to search for a new home for the boys. Rather than let the already dangerous Creed have guardianship over his potentially dangerous brother, NEST has placed the two at Academy 218 in the hopes of turning the two into productive citizens.
Family:
Grandmother: Susan Boggs Brother: Lenny Boggs
Relationships Lenny Boggs | Mixed | Brother | "He's a good kid, just needs to go outside more." | Diego Bellasquez | Dislikes | Classmate | "Fuck that guy." | Abilities Power Class:
Super-System
Power:
Sudden rushes of adrenaline, be it through fear, anger, shock, or pain, cause Creed to transform into a monster. In this monstrous form, Creed doubles in size and weight, and has a tremendous increase in strength. His muscles swell to accommodate his larger frame, causing his skin to tear and bleed freely near his joints, and his eyes to sink in and disappear under his swollen, tightening skin. His jaw protrudes greatly and his teeth increase in mass, and density, allowing him to bite through wood. His speed increases as well, doubly so when he is on all fours. His nails grow to harsh points, allowing him to climb rough surfaces like bark or dirt easily. Although he loses sight, his sense of smell is incredibly heightened, allowing him to sense his surroundings by smell, and giving him tracking abilities far beyond that of a trained bloodhound. Lastly, his durability increases significantly. Melee blows fail to even register to him, and low-caliber bullets from pistols are unlikely to reach his organs.
Limits:
The immense strain Creed’s body is put under during transformation takes its toll. Creed can only be brought out by being knocked out, which is very difficult, or collapsing from exhaustion. After a transformation, Creed is unconscious, bleeding, dehydrated, and completely exhausted of all energy. If Creed manages to avoid exhaustion or injury while transformed, there is still a limit on the amount of time he can spend in this stage. Because of the strain put on his heart to pump blood through an extremely oversized body, after about an hour, Creed’s heart will begin to slow, causing him to becoming extremely lethargic and pass out, ending his transformation. However, if he ignores his slowed heart rate and continues moving around, his heart will stop, killing him. In his transformed state, Creed loses hearing and sight -- His delicate facial muscles swell up underneath his tightened skin, covering his sunken eyes and forming a seal around his fleshy ears. He makes up for this with his amplified sense of smell, although it has drawbacks. Creed remembers very little from his time spent transformed, and the same goes for while he is transformed. Creed is unable to discern friend from foe and right from wrong. He retains the intelligence of a wild animal, and can easily fall into traps.
Weaknesses/Drawbacks:
In his monster form, Creed becomes extremely hydrophobic, hissing and roaring at even a small glass of water. Getting wet would either cause him to violently begin shaking the water off of himself, or being so frightened that he is sent into shock, and transforms into his regular human state. Monster-Creed is incapable of crossing water, swimming, or going out in the rain. Although Creed’s sense of smell is extremely amplified in his transformed state, this also presents a weakness in his overly sensitive nose. While a room that’s been sprayed with large amounts of perfume will mask those in it, being sprayed in the face with perfume or any other strong smelling substance would be intensely painful, and possibly cause him to be rendered “blind”, losing his sense of balance and running wildly.
