Name: The Black Thief of Sloan, or Rook Eisen Nickname: Blacky, Blackbird, or Rook. He prefers the latter. Race: Human Fable Gender: Male Appearance: The only difference between his fairy tale appearance and his human world is his clothing- he wears black clothes all the time, but has a cloak and a sword in his fairy world form. Rook is also missing one of his toes, and has a large, nasty looking scar going down the side of his stomach from an encounter with a giant gone wrong. Overall, Rook looks like a relatively dashing man–he’s just been battered a bit more than most heroes. Job: Fabletown Librarian. He has a near encyclopedic knowledge of fairy tales, and spends a lot of his time doing research in the basement of the library–when he isn’t roaming around the city. Personality: Rook is a relatively cheery person despite the beatings he’s taken in the past, always willing to tell a story and always looking on the bright side of life. Odds are, he’s been in a worse situation than the current one–and he’s perfectly happy to not have to repeat the previous occurrence. Fable: The Black Thief and the Knight of the Glen The Black Thief helped three princes steal a Knight's horse, the price of their lives from their evil stepmother. The Knight (of the Glen) captured them when the bells on his steed gave away their position, preparing to boil them alive. The Black Thief saved each of their lives by telling a story where he was in far worse danger, the Knight pardoning each for a story. The final tale revealed that the Black Thief had saved the Knight's mother years before, and the grateful Knight set them free. Since coming to the real world, the Thief's well known prowess with tales has landed him a spot as the Fabletown librarian and owner of Eisen’s Emporium, a strange combination of library and bookstore in the middle of Fabletown. The ground level is split fairly evenly between bookstore and library, with the upper level being entirely devoted to a reading room. The basement is storage for books not on the shelves for whatever reason, and has a bed, bathroom, and small kitchen in the northwest corner for Rook’s living quarters. Abilities: Invisibility, silent movement, enhanced reflexes and speed. Nothing ridiculous, but he can move quite a bit faster than a Mundie. Mild superstrength, but only to swing his gold sword. Other: Equipment: A pure white gold sword, which he can wield as though it was a normal blade. (Cookies for anyone who gets the white gold reference) As for non-aggressive equipment, Rook carries with him a book of Fables, both in his head and in a leather volume on his person. The book is normally pocket size, but expands to roughly the size of a paperback when he needs to read it. Once upon a time... I was a thief.
