Creak. The sound echoed in the alleyway like the howl of an animal. Or perhaps it was more like something old and ancient finally stirring from its rest. Either way, the noise was loud enough for the group of students to hear plain and clear. Soon enough, the creaking was quickly to be coming from someplace much nearer than expected. The corpse was twitching now. That much was obvious. The sound of bones snapping in place and skin gliding against the ground filled the ears of all who were close at hand. With a guttural groan, the seemingly drowned woman flicked open eyes that were milky white, the sclera devoid of any real color. It looked up now, arching its back as something apparently popped back into place. A creature without thought or purpose, it stared at the students with an open mouthed wail. However, no scream was heard. Instead, a harsh whispering replaced its cries, like sandpaper being rubbed together. It crawled towards them, back arched and head stretched with hair down. Its legs and arms acted almost like spider appendages, picking up speed to charge at the children for the purpose of…well, best not to stick around to ponder that thought.
