Name: Mithias Aldaric Varomere Age: 733 Appearance: I can never find a good picture of Mithias. Suffice it to say he looks mostly like this guy. He is 6'2", very long straight black hair, white skin, and vivid yellow/golden eyes. He looks about 26-36 years old. His nails are also white and clawlike. He doesn't spend any time in the public eye, so he is usually dressed in something durable. If outside in the day, he'd have a wide brimmed hat or hood, usually everything is black. Has steel vambraces. The holy land had been lost, more than once, and the Turks had forced the order entirely out of the Middle East. Despite a blackening name and recent losses in war, the Templars were actually quite successful on another front. The order served God, King, and Pope not just in defending lands, but in defending humanity itself. Unbeknownst to the rest of the world, The Templar Knights had a secretive sect that was specifically charged with hunting down supernatural beings. Witches, undead, abhorrent spirits, were wolves, and of course vampires, were their targets. "Vampire hunters," if you will, took their orders directly from His Holiness. Their ranks were usually filled by family members alone, yet rarely a gifted outsider would pass initiation. Mithias was a young man, a hunter, a squire, and also soon to be a father. He lived in a small town in Germany, near the boarder with France. One day, he attracted the attention of a powerful vampire, because he questioned his purpose. Rather than killing a young vampire, as his order commanded of him, he secretly let her go. Witnessing that incident, the elder vampire took an interest in him, leading him on futile chases into the wilderness. Mithias never had any chance of catching him, and eventually, they began having conversations. The human was an interesting subject. The vampire tricked him into bonding himself to him and toyed with his morality. The conclusion of this little dance however was rushed the day the Templars were abolished. It was Friday the 13th, October, when Mithias' life was turned upside down. The Pope had denounced them. Knights and anyone associated with them were being attacked, killed, their lands and gold confiscated, and their families imprisoned on suspicion of heresy and treason. Mithias fled but could not stop his pregnant wife from being taken. Knowing she would be tortured and imprisoned he was desperate for help. Immediately he turned to the only one he knew who might aid him, the mysterious one in the woods at night who existed above all this human mayhem. In short, the vampire delighted in Mithias' plea. The formed an unwritten pact of blood and Mithias was given the power to save his family. He rescued his wife and saw her to safety and protected her. He killed anyone in his path. Time went by. It was difficult to be a father for the child, as you can imagine, but Mithias was ever grateful. However, he soon discovered his maker was a fickle, selfish creature who lived for amusement and satisfaction, and this conflicted with Mithias' still-human beliefs. Still, the sire never oppressed Mithias. He gave him freedom as a new vampire to the world. Yet, due to ideological differences, they parted ways. As a vampire Mithias preoccupies himself with the activities of his descendents and keeping track of them. He has come to value all human life over the ages, seeing them as potential kin. He has established himself financially several times over and is glad that new technology allows for the voluntary collection of blood and easy travel of great distances. Through various means, he sees the red cross well funded. In his protective role, he's continued his former life's mission of hunting down the sinister when necessary and has inadvertently earned a name for himself in the supernatural world. Personality: Mithias' is seriously lacking a sense of humor. He's honest and honorable, but is missing out on a lot of "fun" as an immortal because of it. He would disagree however, citing his enjoyment of following his distant family and the beauty of nature. He doesn't revel in bloodshed or war at all, but accepts death as a natural part of life with no regrets. Powers: Totally immunity to supernatural mind-affecting powers. Mithias' mental abilities have manifested inwards into an impenetrable wall. His mind cannot be read. He can chose to block out telepathic messages. He is unaffected by influence or suggestion or illusions. His emotions can't be altered. Trying turns out to be completely futile. He honed this power to perfection for good reason. Mithias also has a weaker secondary power, which is the ability to control heat. He can concentrate, disburse, and direct the kinetic energy of molecules as heat. He can start and put out fires, and he could also make something extremely cold. This ability can be used through walls, but has a range limit. Side: Mithias is neutral between humans and vampires. He believes all beings have spirits or souls that are strengthened and deepened by life and experience. He doesn't consider humans to be special in their vulnerability. They are clearly capable of great evil, but he chalks it up to their ignorance and short lifespans. Nor does Mithias believe vampires are inherently superior beings, yet he revers elders who have attained great wisdom. Mithias would be angered by unnecessary slaughter in either direction. For this thread, he would side with SOLDIER who is officially charged with peacekeeping. Weapons: Mithias may or may not be carrying any and/or all of the following: Two FN Five-seven's with armor piercing rounds. Modern, synthetic compound bow with poisoned arrows (more on that later) Bolas, nylon cables. Smoke grenades Flash grenades Twin titanium-alloy katana-like swords with uniquely designed clip-fastening device on hips/belt. A simple whip, coiled against his lower back. Three barbed daggers designed to get stuck in the flesh of the enemy and continuously drain blood through a groove down the middle of the blades. These are named daggers. Skills: Mithias loves driving, and this extends from cars, to heavy machienery, to aircraft. Horesback riding, swordsmanship, and archery are a given. He's also become good with guns and basic computer knowledge. Like most vampires, he has financial savvy and is an investor as an official occupation... albeit under a false name. He has reasons for knowing a fair amount of chemistry and can speak several European languages. Flaws: Obviously, Mithias can't blend in with humans, except perhaps at goth rave parties. He hates rave music. He also can't read minds, and can't influence another's thoughts, emotions, or use any type of mind control. He can fall for a good liar. Fears: Mithias has an irrational fear of losing his family members, of them being wiped out without his continual, stealthy vigilance. The fact is, it's been so many generations since his only son began a family, that his human bloodline covers like a dozen countries. He's vexed that he can't follow them all anymore, but does what he can in the United States currently. His other fear is that his mysterious maker will return to the world and/or go completely insane. His sire was already partly insane, in his opinion, and therefore very dangerous, and probably always had been. A mere bad mood of his could result in the decimation of a population, a plague, entire cities burning... If Mithias ever grew powerful enough to stop him, would he?
